Hi everyone!

I noticed that all the ladies were quiet as well. Busy with summer plans I suppose.

Melani--your boys are sure cute. I had fun looking at all the pictures. I have to look into doing one of these sites. My husband is not too hip on me posting pics on the internet, but if I could email you guys the link instead of posting it here on the board, perhaps I could get him to agree. Just one of his little quirks:p .

We went on vacation in central Oregon this last week. My grandfather's summer cabin is smack dab in the middle of 3 wilderness areas in the Cascade Mountains. We love to hike, so that was basically what I did for workouts. I carried Bardric on each one (about 30 lbs, if you include the pack and the water). I also ate like a pig:9. Seriously. I am so disgusted with my weight gain, but now I am back to my Fit Day and accountiblity....

Sat-5 mile hike (round trip) to Cone Peak Meadows--pretty grueling uphill stuff
Sun-3 miles of walking at the High Desert Museum and the Lava Lands Visitor Center
Mon-7.5 mile hike (round trip) to Canyon Creek Meadows at the base of Three fingered Jack--extremely scenic and pretty grueling also
Tues-6 mile hike (round trip) along the Metolius River--fairly flat hike--no big elevation gains or losses
Wed-3 miles of walking at the Lava Cast Forest and the Lava River Tube (a one mile long lava cave--a little freaky--I can't go the last few hundred feet, because the cave gets to where you can't stand up and it makes me panic because I am clausterphobic.
Thurs-6 mile hike (round trip)to the South Matthieu Lake at the base of the North Sister--very beatiful and fairly grueling
Fri-Rest, came home:(
Sat-Rest, trying to settle in
Sun (tomorrow) I'll take my official rest day

This has been very long. Sorry.

So, moms, where are you???

edited to add: no I have not started potty training Bardric yet. I'll probably wait until after he turns 2 in September. It's got to be done. I can't have 3 in diapers!!!
Maggie

Wow, I haven't even thought of potty training Max yet. He just seems to young, especially because he still doesn't really talk yet. Would it even be possible to teach a toddler who doesn't talk yet? He has started to take off his diaper though. One morning we walked into a crib smeered with poo! Has this happened to any of you? Well, needless to say, we have gotten the convertible diapers and put him to bed in hard to get out of outfits and one pieces.

Anyway, I won't complain about being overdue, since I've done that elsewhere, but I'm still waiting...

Also, my husband surprised me and came home on Friday night. He will be here for part or most of this week, so hopefully our little bundle decides to show up soon! I had a few cramps this morning and thought it was going to progress, but it turned out to be nothing.

Maggie, You should feel proud of all your hiking accomplishments last week, what with carrying your toddler and being pregnant! I am impressed!

Due 7-10-05

Hi all you mommies, babies and little devils(toddlers). I meant to start a post last week but never got around to it. It has been crazy here as the warm weather finally hit. It seems when summer hits we just keep on going all day. Right now, Ms. Alexis is dilligently dancing to Barney. My weight went up a pound, unfortunately I don't have a reason like all you preggo gals. Alexis is talking more and more. I don't think a child should be potty trained til well after their 2nd birthday. Alexis now will say though when she needs to be changed. I did mostly firms the past 2 weeks. I am trying to do intense workouts this week as we are heading out of town on wed. to my parent's house in NY.

Melanie, were their pics I missed? Great workouts while pregnant.
Emy, still no baby? Glad hubby is home. Have you checked with Max's pediatrician regarding his speech? My nephew now talks up a storm but did need some speech therapy.
Maggie, sounds like you are keeping real busy.

Workouts:
This week:
sun-hardcore extreme-circuits
Monday-stepblast

Last week's workouts:
sun-express cardio=calorie killer=fim abs
mon-firm -upper body split
tues-lower split
wed-reebok-intense moves+10 min. sol. bootcamp
thurs-can't remember
fri-cardio sculpt
sat-rythmic step+10 min. solution-pilates

Hi there!

Shopaholic--sounds like Alexis is quite the busy little girl. Have a good trip at your parents house.

Emy--you sound pretty good for being late. I was 2 days late for one child and thought I would go purely insane:eek: . Yes, we have had poop experiences like you would not believe and I have walked into a crib smeared with poop (and poop all over the toddler as well).

Bardric does not speak much either, but I'm not really worried about it, because he seems so focused on his (dangerous!!) gross motor abilities and increasing them to the fullest. He is also clearly thinking about things and problem solving. He does sign some words that he does not say.

take care
Maggie

Toddler Beds

Okay, are all your toddlers still in crib, or have you advanced to toddler beds? If so, how do you keep your kids in the bed? Just curious as I'm afraid that it's right around the corner. ;)

RE: Toddler Beds

I hear from a lot of people that girls talk before boys . Not a shocker as us women always want to talk.
Emy, please keep visiting us here. Are you getting any sleep these days?
Melanie, Alexis loves her crib and due to her size can't get out. I plan on keeping her in her crib another year.

RE: Toddler Beds

Elyse: I forgot to mention my website to you
www.monnie.photosite.com

I try to update it monthly, a few moms have visited the site. ;)
Maggie: Justin isn't speaking much. He likes his binky so much, which I am sure is at least part of the issue. Almost all of his words begin with "b". Also you mentioned that your husband was leery of you putting up a website? at photosite.com they have an option where you can make your website password entry only. I opted not to do that, but I bet your hubby would be more willing to accept that. We'd sure like to see all your angels.

Where's Briee & Autumn?

RE: Toddler Beds

I plan on keeping Max in his crib as long as I can. Hopefully that will be for another year. So that means I have to get another crib for Lily. For now she is in the "bassinet" of a pack n play until I move in August.

Things are going well. We moved out of our house on Friday. I am now at my parents' house for 3 weeks until we move to Georgia, where my husband returned today. It all sounds crazy, but Lily came in time to be born at home and the packing and moving went well. The hard part is over! And I am so excited for our new house in Georgia. We were able to get a bigger house there with an acre (though most of it is wooded) thanks to making a good increase on the sale of our home here.

I am getting SOME sleep. Lily will sleep for a 4-5 hour stretch at night which is nice. I will really feel it, though, when I move and don't have my mom helping tend to Max.

I didn't check with a speech therapist about Max not talking due to a neighbor telling me all about her wonderful masters in speech therapy and trying to scare me about how bad it is that Max isn't talking yet and how he will be so behind. I guess I am stubborn and don't like getting that kind of attitude from people.

Melanie, I viewed your pictures - Justin is so adorable. How fun to have a boat and live right by the water!

Someday I will be working out again and have that to check in with you all about... I can see, however, that a baby and a toddler will be a real challenge to that goal once I am recovered enough to even try...

RE: Toddler Beds

Emy, you are inbelievable, it is amazing how you are handling everything. That is great that lily is sleepimg 4-5 hours although you must be physically and emotionally exhausted. I am sorry if I offended you regarding speech therapy, you know your child . Remember Ms. Alexis may be a talker but she walked on the late side so every child is different.

RE: Toddler Beds

Emy--I agree with Shopaholic--you are incredible! I guess you just have to do what you have to do, but you sound so good and full of energy. I hope your move continues to move smoothly.

Melani--that's a good idea about the password. I'll suggest that to him. I'd bet he'd go for that. (now only find me the time to figure out how to do it, 'kay:p )

My workouts for the week
Mon--SH chest, shoulder, triceps--2 sets of each exercise, instead of 3
Tues--LL (ouch)+40 min intervals on stationary bike
Wed--SH/GS hybrid back and biceps+IMAX 3 step only
Thurs--all step+S&I (cardio only)
Fri--The Viper, with some modifications--skipped the final set of pushups. I was just too tired.
Sat--Low Max step only+KM kick/punch drills
Sun--REST

And my good news for the week:
1. I heard baby's heart beat and it sounded strong, although I have felt no movement yet.
2. I ate about 2250 cal/day, but super clean last week and GAINED NO WEIGHT for the first time since I knew I was pregnant. I am going to keep doing this for a while. I want my #of weeks along to catch up with my weight gain.
3. Bardric suffered no significant "owies".

take care

RE: Toddler Beds

Emy, do you think Mr B will stay in his crib until he's 2 1/2 years old? Wow. That seems like a long time. I plan on using a bassenet at the begining & then a pack/play bassenet combo until he's about 8 mos old (worked with Justin)/or Justin moves to toddler bed. Justin will be about 2 1/2 by then & will be in a toddler bed for sure by then. So...I guess I was thinking 2 1/2 too. ;)
We don't have much room so new baby will be sharing a room for a long time, or until God gives us insight as to where we should put him.;) I really like my small house payment. I don't want a larger one for a larger house. ;)

RE: Toddler Beds

Shopaholic, You DID NOT offend me! I was just commenting on an annoying neighbor, who probably meant well. But for here, I did bring it up after all. It is something to consider if his vocabulary doesn't gradually increase. But yesterday he started saying "mao mao" when asked what a cat says. It's a start!

RE: Toddler Beds

I would love for Max to stay in his crib until he turns 3! What are the chances of that?!!

RE: Toddler Beds

Emy, glad I didn't offend. All of a sudden Alexis started repeating more and more words, hopefully Max will do the same. How are you feeling? How is Lily? I do think Alexis will stay in her crib close to her 3rd b-day because she is so small. We'll see.

RE: Toddler Beds

Hey strangers!!! Just got all the details bout Emy's birth, so exciting!! I loved the b-tub too, water helps!!!! We have been loosing our minds trying to get this house built - progress is sooooo slow.

I haven't even thought about Noah NOT being in a crib. He's the first baby that has ever used a crib in our home so I'm happy for him to be there a good long time, maybe in the next year we'll make a change to big brothers bed possibly. Hannah continues to hold tightly to her binky and she is three now - how do you get over this one? She's our first and only binky baby. She keeps trying to get Noah to take one, but he doesn't want one anymore, he throws it back at her.

Workouts have been great the past 2 weeks, prior to this I had a terrible 2 months of hit or miss exercise which frustrated the heck out of me. I was at MC sports today and I fell in love with a combination "smith-type" machine. I want to be able to go REALLY heavy on squats and this machine would allow me to do that and "catch" the bar if I get into trouble. Same with chest presses and it has the MOST beautiful pull up station with altered handgrips. Now I'm looking around trying to see what I can list on ebay to pay for it:7 :7 :7 :7

Glad you're all doing well!!

Briee (I did find a little time to check out some of the pix from the road trip - boy did that look like a blast!!)

RE: Toddler Beds

Hi Briee!

Good to hear from you. I figured that you were working on the house. We are doing the same, but on a smaller scale. Just trying to get the master bathroom finished, so that we can move out of the basement and into the master bedroom. We are going to look at tile today.

Malcolm, my only non nurser, was our only crib baby and I have to say that in some ways it has been rather nice. Bardric, well, is still in bed with us, but that will change when we change bedrooms this fall. Will wean him into a toddler bed next to ours and then into his brothers' room--Hopefully before the baby comes--yikes!! It won't be fun, but it must be done. And potty training--that must start this fall as well. 3 in diapers is, well, just a season if nothing else, but it would be nice to have one out.

I hope you can check in more frequently, but understand if you can't.:7 :7

take care
Maggie

RE: Toddler Beds

Hey Maggie, musical beds is all too common in our household as well. I remember having 4 in our bedroom, two in bed and two who didn't want to leave on the floor beside the bed...oh my.

My 15 year old son went to a leadership foundation camp for 2 weeks and almost died being away from home for that long. He missed his brothers and sisters soooooo much we almost had to pick him up early, but three days before it ended he FINALLY wanted to stay and was having a blast. They told me it was refreshing to have a 15 year old boy who wanted to be with his family instead of "the guys". I was touched. He is so independent when he's at home and way too self confident at times - I never thought this would happen. I like having children who are best friends (of course they have their moments!!!).

Good to hear from you Maggie...diapers will not last forever....(this is what I've been told although I have a hard time believing it myself as well)

RE: Toddler Beds

That's so nice about your son--that he loves his siblings so much and all. I had a similar experience with my 8yo DD, who went to day camp about 45 minutes a way a couple of weeks ago. Her sister (6) was supposed to be with her, but got really sick the first day and could not attend the rest of the week. My SIL very kindly offered to let DD stay with her, as her daughter (our daughter's cousin) was also attending the camp. So for a week while I dealt with a very very sick child and trying to keep any one else from getting this illness, 8yo DD was at day camp and at my SIL's place having a total blast and not having to deal with chores or school or siblings. I thought she would not want to come home, but Thursday afternoon, she tearfully called and said she missed all of us and wanted to come home. My heart melted!!!

I do so want our children to be close as both hubby and I come from extended families that are not so close (although I am close with my brother and SIL.)

take care
Maggie

Maggie! Briee!!!

Maggie...You are pregnant!?! Wow! How time flies. :p CONGRATULATIONS! When are you due? How is Bardric?

Briee!!! Waves! Nice to see you are still at it. How old is your baby? Is it your last? I often think about you and what you said that "if it can be done home, you do it.":D (homeschooling/home birthing/home, home, home!)

It is so nice to still see you ladies posting.

Me? Well, busy as you can see. All over the place and nowhere at all.

My baby is now 3.4 years old (was born 3 weeks after Cathe's baby Kyle) and kicked the diapers at 2 1/2. Unbelievable! I was and am ecstatic. He was able to sleep overnight without any accidents from the getgo. I love it. No more $$$ diapers. My first one was using pullups until at least 4. Ugh!x(

Just wanted to pop in, congratulate Maggie and say hi to all!:+
