Good morning ladies..

Getting us started today...My workout will be Slow & heavy: Bis & Tris...

Ok, now it is time to get those kids started on their lessons for the day!!

Be back later!!

Good Morning, Kathy!!! and all to follow!!!

S&H is kickin, huh? I'm looking forward to the 2 workouts left this week! Have fun!

Today is KICKMAX for me, I'm getting ready to go downstairs to get underway...

LOTS on my "to do" list today. Mostly, i want to be able to relax outside near the pool and read and swim with Jake. It's day #2 of 90+ degrees out, FINALLY it's summer here! What a weird season.

Beth...I responded on yesterday's thread to you, make sure you go back to read it!...

BBL!

Good morning!!! I did GS Chest & Triceps today and really thought about your "quivering" comment yesterday, Chris. Wow! Those drop set push ups nearly wiped me out and I almost called it a workout at that. :p I'm not sure I'm ready to face meso 1 -- honestly, I do think meso 1 is the toughest.

I did see your post from last night, but figured it was too late to reply. Yes, I have p90x -- crazy, I know! Let's do it sometime -- maybe another round of STS, then a month of "fun" and then hit Tony? A thought.....

It's 90s here, too, though we've had some of that. I hope you sort of enjoy it, as a nice blast of summer, somehow. Did I tell you guys there's another fire in our area? We found out about it while on vacation at breakfast one morning. We heard people in the booth behind us talking about where Davenport is, and we looked at the picture on the front page of the paper -- dramatic fire pic -- yikes! Larry said "Can I have that paper?!" and the lady nicely handed it over while we explained that's very close to where we live. Fortuntely it is 15 miles away, and there's a freeway in between, so we feel no danger, but it's the reality that sort of smacked us, and when we got home it was really smoky here. I guess I did tell you that. So, that's our weather report..... smoky with heat. Sorry to go on and on.

Hottie, how are you feeling?

Kathy, do you give your kids obvious progressions to a next grade level, or is it just a subtle thing when it happens? I'm so looking forward to my kids going back to school -- it's going to be very hard to be waking up so early again, but I'm finally ready for it. I want to be back at work more!!! Travis was off the wall hyper at his ADHD appt. yesterday and the dr. was looking at me like "does this happen often?" and I told him there's usually a time every day when we go through this. And his face was interesting and (he's got five kids) so I said, "this makes you appreciate your children more, doesn't it?" and he looked at me and said, "no, it makes me appreciate you more." So, yes, teachers, you can have him. :D Funny thing is, I think he really holds it together well at school and saves that type of behavior for home, which is probably a good thing for him!!!

Oops, somehow I clicked the submit button too fast..... sorry for all the babble -- hope you all have a nice day!!

Wow...Kickmax was fun, and kicked my butt (the bootcamp drills, mostly). But it was really long to me today, I have a bunch to do and I kept thinking about it and if I should shave off a bootcamp drill or leg drill at the end, but I never did, I just kept doing it! LOL!.

But I'm tired. After my crazy sleep weekend, last night I was up at 12:30 and 4:30 for Zach's sugar checks and then up at 7am for good. I feel hungover-ish and KM didn't snap me out of it... I'll feel better later.... I hope!

Beth: YES!, GS gave me the quivers last week too!! I had major DOMS from Chest and Back last week. ...

Okay, I'll BB, Jakey is ready to go and I want to get back for swimming!!!

Hi ladies!! I'm in a bit of a workout slump. Not feeling motivated. Arrggg - what's up with that. I did do KCM's biceps, triceps and shoulders Saturday. Was going to add on the cardio from her bootcamp, but didn't do it. Sunday was my rest day and that night Ian had a friend sleep over, so no workout yesterday. Today I had to get up early to get my mammogram (oh, fun stuff!) and I was up late waiting for Jameson to get home from the Sox game. I realized how the teenage years might be! He went with a friends' family, so I knew he was fine, but I still couldn't sleep till he got home, which was close to midnight since they went to a pizza party afterwards.

The garage sale went pretty well - long day though. I couldn't even give away the stuffed animals, but they are not coming back in the house! The kids made close to $100 and me about $75, so not too bad. I just wanted to get rid of stuff!

I feeling kind of cruddy - fighting off this cough I seem to have. Haven't been sleeping well, so that's not helping. Hopefully I can get back on track, get a good night's sleep tonight and workout tomorrow.

Beth, I'm not sure if I poste since you got back, but your trip sounded great! I'm sure the kids will have lots of great memories! That fire is scary. Especially to be away from home and hear about it. LOL on giving Travis back to the teachers!! But, I know what you mean - I'm ready for the kids to go back. Except I'm not looking forward to the homework and projects. Ian is starting middle school and I think he's really nervous. How do you get your kids to open up?? He won't talk about it, but when I asked him if he was nervous he got all teary-eyed and hid under his covers. It's a big change - huge school with about 900 kids. I told him everyone else probably feels the same as him - it's going to be new for everyone. He goes for an orientation Friday where they ride the bus and go to all their classrooms. I think that will make him feel better.

Chris, we finally have summer, too. Just in time for school to start. Enjoy Kick Max!! LOL - yes, I do have P90X and have never done it! I don't have a pull-up bar (at least not near the TV - it's in the kids' doorway), so I think that's why I never did it. There's suppsed to be so many pull-ups - I felt like I wouldn't get the benefit I was supposed to from it.

Hi Kathy and everyone else....must get back to work....

Joanne

Ok, off to workout..Just popped in to see everyone..

Beth: Yes, we purchase a curriculum that goes the same number of days that the school's go. When we finish the lessons/days of the year, they progress to the next grade. The summer is a time of worksheets and reading. That keeps them in the mindset of school somewhat. We had a tough morning today getting back into it after being gone this weekend and there are days (like today) I would love to send them to school!! Thankfully, most days are not like that or I wouldn't be doing this at all! My kids act better for others too. I think they know how to play me...

now, time to do those bis and tris and a segment of coremax!!

Just a quick check in now and a chatty one later since the bay is open that I need to use. I futzed forever this morning but eventually got LIS+HIS premix in and I felt pretty good for waiting around to do that. Yesterday, I finished more 1RMs so I'm on track I think to have them done by the end of the month. Woot! Ok, wish me luck that I won't contaminate anything...

Ok, let's try this again.

So, I've been having a good day so far. Very productive. I've been needing more and more sleep it seems but I felt like I could move around. I futzed but we got things done. have I told you guys I got a roomba a couple weeks ago? There was a good sale, I got the 410 with an extra battery for $99 (before tax). Anyway, its great on hardwood floors (I wouldn't know about carpet since mine is all very high and only in two rooms). Anyway, while Joe was out with Evee, the roomba swept the living and dining room. I recharged it for a bit while I dropped joe off at the train station and I came back to put it on during my workout so it swept the den and kitchen while that was going on. And Evee only attacked it nominally. :) I also managed to water the lawn and shove a load of laundry before I left for work. I also got the bay I wanted to and everyone disappeared while i worked so all the extra machines were open which made things go faster. Yay! Also, we prepped meat for later tonight and i just bought some burger buns so JOE is cooking for ME tonight! And I love Joeburgers. It's been feeling wrong with such lovely weather and no grilling.

You guys are talking abot 90s -- we finally got some relief. Its been in the mid 80s in Pasadena, so even less where I work. Last weekend the high was 78 in Pasadena -- just gorgeous! I hope it lasts. September can often be a horrible month in the desert here...

Kathy -- my friend's jaw dropped when she saw CoreMax and finally understood what I meant by needed to get stronger to do Cathe Core. It's still too tought for me! hope you enjoyed S&H! I'm not sure if I asked this before, and if you don't mind me asking, why did you choose to homeschool your children? I know the reasons run the gambit -- from religious reasons or schools not providing enough academic challenge or social issues etc etc.

Chris -- I have been CRAVING a KB workout for a couple days. I have this crazy add on KB "premix" I've made in my head that I've been wanting to try when I have the energy. So, I was telling Joe that Greg didn't want to work out with girls, and before I could praise Joe for not feeling weird working out with women, he said, "Does Greg know Cathe could kick both of our collective a$$es?" LOL!

Beth -- I didn't know Travis is ADHD -- Joe's convinced he would have been ADHD if it were more well known when he was growing up. My mother likes to say I was just lazy as a kid but the fact remains I never do well when I'm bored so maybe I would have just been ADD. Is it hard to deal with? At least he saves it just for you. Don't say Meso 1 is the toughest!!! i'm trying to get pumped! ;) Actually, Joe was looking at the very first workout with me and we both groaned at the same time -- it was like, "really Cathe? Must we be introduced to STS with this many pushups??" Why do all of you apologize for the babble? Are you guys subtely saying I babble too much!?!??! :)

Joanne -- I feel that way too lately. I have to institute, i'm not leaving the house until I work out rule lately to make it happen. Hopefully we'll both get out of it. Maybe you have the same tingle in your throat that I did. But hey, that's awesome that you got $$ and some stuff out from the garage sale! I always went to big schools (the class I graduated from in HS was 700+ people)...I used to like going to new places though. Felt like a new slate and everyone was in the same boat as me. Orientation will help Ian just so he doesn't get all deer in headlights. Does he have a locker for the first time? Make him memorize that combo to death! That's what I remember from middle school...

Ohh -- and I got Joe one of his bday gifts. new running shoes! He's completely married to Saucony and I found a later generation of the shoes he's currently breaking down on clearance. Yay! I also saw a bunch of Ryka's on sale if any of you are interested. I would have bought more if i didn't have to clamp down on $$$ a bit (but comeon, it's his bday, I have to get him something...).

Ok, I'm off to the other side of campus to go get my $800 parking permit that they failed to mail to me...

Hottie: No, I don't mind you asking. We homeschool for a number of reasons...I like being able to select the curriculum they use. We use a Christian based curriculum that follows along with our beliefs in the Bible (Catholic based)...I also know that they are not just sitting in a classroom waiting for the next assignment. When they finish a subject we move on. So, our day is a shorter day then public school. They also have to answer the questions. There is nobody else here to answer for them..We like the fact that they aren't exposed to the bad elements of school like bullies and sicknesses. Instead, they have a large group of friends in our homeschool community.

Anyway, those are some of the reasons...The kids love being homeschooled and as long as they do; we will keep it up. In fact, I tell them all the time to get busy and behave or they will no longer have the privledge of staying home. That usually gets them busy on the lessons..

Thanks for asking..

By the way, great gift!! And I LOVE Ryka's..They are the only aerobic shoes I buy. I wish they still made the Enlights. They were my favorite style..

Hey! Joanne, sorry about the workout slump -- do you think if you start STS with us in Sept that would help?

And as for kids opening up..... I think it's probably very individual, but what I've found with Travis is that he talks to me in a much more meaningful way when it's just the two of us on the basketball court or going for a walk. Something about the physical stuff with it really helps him. Have you tried anything like that? Middle school has got to be a scary prospect for everyone -- ug! I'll be facing that next year, though our transition is not nearly has hard as yours probably is -- it's at the same location -- just across the way -- and no other schools feed into it. These kids are going to be so sick of each other by the time they get to high school!!! That's the downside of a smallish school.

Yes, Hottie, meso 1 is crazy with pushups, isn't it?

Yes, Travis has ADHD -- really classic symptoms -- he didn't learn to read until late because the words really looked like they were jumping around on the page for him. Poor kid -- really couldn't focus on reading until second grade. Is it hard to deal with? Well, it's what I know, so in that way, no. I'm sure there are easier kids, but because it's all I've known from him, it just seems "normal". Dylan sometimes gets the short end of the stick I think.

You did have a productive day! You live right near the San Gabriel mountains, right? Do you know the writer John McPhee? Writes essays on nature and other things. One book is called "The Control of Nature" and has an essay on the San Gabriel mountains (I think that's the name of the range) and all the movement. I read a couple of his books (including that one) while I was on jury duty for 10 weeks many years ago.

Just back from seeing "Aliens in the Attic". Next week there is a 3D X-Games movie playing that Travis really wants to see (only plays one week). Better start working on dinner -- enjoy the Joeburgers!
