August 09 Check In ***Friday 28th***

Cathlete
Good morning ladies...

Last day of the rotation!! It says stretch. So, I will be stretching and I am going to do the ab circuit I missed the other day when I ran out of time..

Beth: You should probably listen to your body and not do weights..Or you could go light with them. But, if your in alot of pain I wouldn't chance it. Maybe a stretch day or cardio..

ok, now time to get my day started! The kids have a playdate this afternoon..

Be back later..

Good morning Kathy, and everyone!

Well, this morning just laying in bed I could feel my shoulder. It's not like it's huge pain, but it just doesn't feel right and at times it's definitely painful. So, as you said, Kathy, I listened. I'm really afraid of making it worse or causing permanent damage. Seems like shoulder injuries are so common. Anyway, I stretched, and now I feel great! Must have been what I needed -- well, that plus, you gotta' love a "workout" that you can roll out of your bed and do in your jammies and bare feet!

Kathy, did you tell us what you're going to do for the couple of weeks leading up to your trip? (workouts, I mean :p)

Have a great day!

Hey Girls!!!

Quick check in for me for now, before I chicken out...

Going to go tackle Plyo Legs again... maybe week #3....

BBL!!!!

Hey Beth: Great!! Glad your shoulder felt ok after that stretch. I love stretch days that I can do in my jammies too...I am going to join you and Chris and whoever else wants to and do the 4 day split series. Are you going to still do this? And if so, which one are we starting with?

Chris: Good luck with those plyo legs!!

Kathy -- I'm going to try -- we'll see how it feels. I'm gone this weekend, so I wouldn't start 'til Monday -- for lack of anything better, I was going to do HIS, LIS, BC, KB, I think is the order, because I like to get that step stuff done first -- I still haven't mastered HIS. But, depending on my shoulder and where the shoulder work fits in, I may rearrange.

Chris, I hope you enjoyed plyo legs -- my legs were sore this morning.

Good morning!!

Chris, Plyo Legs again??? Yikes!! Are you able to sit down yet from your DOMS? ;)

Beth, ow on the shoulder. Good idea to just stretch today. Do your kids like the piano lessons? DH just signed up Ian for bagpipe lessons. Yes, bagpipes. FIL always said he wanted one of his grandkids to play bagpipes and he would pay for the lessons if they did. Well, he passed away last winter and DH wants to fulfill his wish. So, he signed Ian up since he's the least busy kid! I hope he likes it. I'm not sure when it starts or anything, but this should be interesting.

Kathy, sounds like a nice relaxing day!

Today was Pure Cardio for Insanity. Yikes again!! I did OK, but this one seemed tougher cause once you get going there's no rest periods like the other ones. I did have to take a couple breaks. I think I would do better with these if I could eat something first, then workout an hour or so later. But, that's just going to happen unless I'm up at 4:00am.

Colin's football scrimmage starts at 8:30 tomorrow morning and it's about 30 minutes away. Which means we'll all be up even earlier than a school day. He is excited, though. I hope the rain stops. It's been miserable here.

BBL...have a wonderful day!

Joanne

Sounds good Beth. I will do some cardio or something this weekend and do the 4 day split on Monday with you all..

Joanne: Hope Coling enjoys his football scrimmage. Chris has asked about football in the past. But, it thankfully hasn't come up again. I prefer him stick with baseball. He is so into it anyway..He has practice tonight and tomorrow afternoon. But, we have rain threatening here too. So, that may not happen. I don't do well with early morning workouts most of the time either. I seem to do well when I am able to do it in the lunchtime area. I can usually manage that thank goodness.

Ok, back to school lessons..

Hey Again!

I survived! Actually , #3 wasn't too bad, compared to #2. NO 180's, no 2 Legged jumps onto a 4 riser step . The only killer one was the one-legged squat thrusts with a jump (on one foot!!). Ummmm... not happening here! LOL!. I did try, but spotted a LOT with my other leg and then did the last 3-4 with 2 legs. I'd say I felt like puking twice. Yay! LOL!

My legs were sore, I went very conservatively on the weights. it was a KICKBUTT week for my legs this week, Plyo, A Run, and the Plyo again! My quads were mostly sore from my run yesterday.

Kathy: Enjoy your stretch today!!! YEAH for finishing the rotation!!! Hi-5's!! I did Ab Circuit Pilates yesterday, REALLY liked it, except for the side planks. But those were very quick anyways. (didn't really do them).

Beth: From yesterday: YES! We were pregnant at the same time! Jake will be 8 on Sept 14th!!! Too funny, huh? Actually, I was pregnant for ALL of my boys at this time of year. It took me a while to get used to NOT being pregnant at this time! LOL! As far as H1N1 Flu, no increase about it at work. IN fact, I don't think they're as prepared as they should be, since they are continuing to scale back our nurses/staffing. Pisses me off, because our census is going to be through the roof, and they're thinking they're going to keep us at 17 with 3 nurses. Aggravating! .... The boys start school Monday. We'll see what happens from them. I've always kept my kids home if they run fevers/sick. Hopefully others will comply better. Since last year , apparently, some did not, as evidenced by the rampant H1N1 through the middle school  ..................... I did read a little on the Lower Intensity workout thread in OD. hard to say. I'm always freakin hungry. I stress eat, THAT is my biggest problem. And I'm not sure if it's weights or cardio that makes me more hungry. Yesterday I felt SO hungry all day, and all I did was run/abs. But HEY!!! I got my shipping notice from PHYSIQUE 57 yesterday!!! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do Monday... I guess probably start 4DS and run on the in between days if I can. (school starts!!!). ... Glad your shoulder is feeling better with the stretching today! I think you did the right thing. STS would have aggravated it. Even some of the bicep/tricep work pulls on my shoulder.

Joanne: Yeah, well, Cathe did this to me with 2 Plyo legs this week! LOL! I did say the word "F" a few times today though , I think it was the one-legged thrusts... and she kept saying, "I *LOVE* these!"... Evil , she is, evil!!!... I think I like the idea of running/Physique57/upper body weights too. But then again, I was watching QVC last night and they had Tony horton on for P90X... made me want to do THAT too! I previewed the Plyometrics DVD yesterday (it had a mark on it and I wanted to make sure it didn't skip). OMG, that looked so fun/cool! I know people are irritated by him, but I just love Tony. His silliness cracks me up. Reminds me of my big brother! ..... Sorry Caitlyn freaked out about her bday. My boys love it, because ON their exact birthday, they can pick out ANY dinner they want (out to eat, or I make it) and then they get their bday presents from us. They also get cake/ice cream/happy birthday! And then on the day of their party (we have a big family party every year in the backyard, + their friends). they get MORe presents, MORE cake, and more fun! Tell Caitlyn that maybe? Maybe she was having a bad day? I know I certainly have those! LOL!... I know there's been threads on OD about "junk" food brought in for parties at school. I'm sorry, but I just always thought it was special to send in cupcakes/cake for their bday. They only do it in elementary school, it stops once they get to middle. So what's the big deal? It amazes me how they go overboard with those rules, yet they crap for school meals a lot. ........ Ok, Insantity sounds kind of cool again! LOL!

Vilma: Glad school is going ok! I understand about limiting your online time, I can only imagine with school work!!! .... We don't go ga-ga over Miley. Just watched one movie...LOL! The same for Zac Effron too. Well, my boys *hate* Zac Effron and all the High School Musicals. We did watch "17 Again". He is kind of easy to watch (never heard about nude photos...eww!). But the movie was pretty entertaining. I actually loved the co-star character, the FRIEND of Zac Effron's, he was a riot!

*WAVES* to Hottie!!! Hope things are looking better there! the weekend is almost here!!! Hold on!!!!

Ok ladies, I spoke too soon. Driving the boys to school made my shoulder hurt! And now it hurts just walking around, so this is not just soreness -- there's something that needs to heal. Fortunately I have to take it easy the next couple of days anyway -- we'll see how it is Monday. Maybe I can do 4DS minus shoulder and chest work at the very least.

Joanne, I laughed so hard about the bagpipes because just on the way to piano lessons yesterday Dylan, well, I think he was the one, said he wants to learn bagpipe! Too funny! You're lucky to live in a city where that sort of stuff is available -- that won't be happening here. Travis definitely likes piano, though he has his moments where he's not keen on it -- Dylan seems to not like it. Travis wants drumset lessons -- that's just not happening. And I guess Dylan wants to learn the bagpipe. :) Travis is actually pretty good -- he picks up songs quickly and does a great version of Cold Play's Clocks. He played it this morning before school for the first time in months (we got so sick of it last spring, but fun to hear this morning).

Chris, good news on P57! You're so funny with wanting to do everything. I love the idea of P57/running/upper body work. We'll do that someday. Funny about not being pregnant in Sept.

Gotta run -- we are headed out. Have a great weekend -- Joanne -- I hope it dries out for you!!!

Beth, are you going somewhere fun? Hope so! You may have already left, but have a great trip! Yea, the funny thing is Ian never really expressed an interest in bagpipes. But, he really isn't interested in sports, so he has the most free time! Colin is starting the tuba soon. OK - where exactly are we going to keep bagpipes AND a tuba?? I can just imagine the "concerts" they'll put on for us. ;) And, add Jameson's clarinet in there.

Chris, OK - so Plyo Legs #3 isn't so bad? I'll keep that in mind if I decide to sub for an Insanity. There are a lot of plyo moves kind of similar to Cathe's. So you have 3 nurses for potentially 17 patients? Yikes! Did Greg start P90X yet? One of you has to try it! ;) Now I'm debating between doing running/P57/upper body or CLX and running next. It won't be till October, so I have some time! Oh yea, the "two cakes" is a good idea to persuade Caitlyn! We will have some family over on her actual birthday and she'll get our presents. I did mention moving the party this morning and she seemed OK with it. I think it was just bad timing. I think it's fun to bring in cupcakes or something like that for birthdays, too. Last year they could but it had to be packaged stuff. Yuck! The year before they could bring anything in, but they couldn't eat it at school - had to bring it home. I can't tell you how many car rides we had balancing backpacks and heavily frosted cupcakes! ;) But, no more. Someone handed out birthday bags in Caitlyn's class and there was a really annoying whistle in there. It came in handy waking Ian up this morning. ;) He's my sleepyhead.

Kathy, Colin wanted to do football last year but I wouldn't let him. He's only in 5th grade now. I think the discipline and team building is good for him. He really loves it. I do worry about him getting hurt, but I worried when he played soccer, too. THe coaches are really good - at the scrimmage we were at during the week, the coach of the other team was just screaming at the kids, really being obnoxious and condescending. And, it was only a scrimmage. I just hate that. It's just a game and should be fun for them. Sure, you want the team to do well, but that's just ridiculous.

OK, I'm avoiding work again and babbling....must go!

Joanne

I am also avoiding work (cleaning). Plus my boys are really laying it on thick with the fighting and annoyances. Well, of course, Alex and Jake are still punished, and being indoors for the 5th straight day is making them a bit crazy too. I really wonder WHO is punished with the INDOORS all week! So , I will be very excited to see school come on Monday. I'm a bit bummed though, I definitely won't see Zach go off to school before I get home from work, and probably not Alex or Jake either, unless I leave ON TIME. Not even a minute late. I like to see them the first day of school! We do pictures and everything. Though i guess i can do it the second day. Who would remember in the long run right?

Beth: Hope you have fun this weekend and the rest for your poor shoulder should do you good! I know you said where you were going, and I can NOT for the life of me remember..... :p

Joanne: That is too funny about the Bagpipes AND the Tuba! Omg, what a band they will make!! Hope your football day goes well tomorrow. It does sound fun, except for the early wake-up call. Yeah, they WANT to keep our floor census down to 17, (we have a capacity of 23). Once we hit 19 , we're supposed to have 4 nurses. And it hasn't failed the last month, they've gone over 17 the majority of the time, because the hospital gets too full! DUH!. And we end up working short. It really really sucks. It's all about "budget", yet they can build a HUGE new "Hospital of the Future". ... sorry, I get so annoyed and frustrated with all that crap. I try to just be thankful I have a job and insurance.... !!!! ... I have to say, I *hate* the small birthday toys/junk that go in birthday bags. They always end up in the trash. Unless, it's crayons or pencils or something USEFUL. Whistles, yuck. Or any of those silly noise makers. Bah Humbug! Just give them a cupcake they can eat at school!!! LOL!!

So yes, I better go get my cleaning underway. Plus I really really want to read to P90X stuff. Greg wants to just jump into it. ummm..after watchign PLYO METRICS, I'm thinking he better take the easier options, just have to figure out what they are.
