Yesterday was my first day in the weight room at my gym.

I have avoided it forever being intimidated by all the huffing and puffing and grunting of the guys in there....I didnt want to look like lost bit of fluff wandering around taking up space in the midst of their serious workouts.

But...its time i start going in there so i got myself together and did it.
all my self education with tapes, books and chatting on this forum added up .

i was in there half an hour making my first real attack on the equiptment: I had my hands on the barbell on the rack getting my mind set to heave it over my head...and this guy who had been watching me came over and observed:

"lady you have one 'damn' attitude about working out"
( meaning i looked like i was going to get the job done like a pro, no messing around )

i smiled and corrected him.... "a damn good attitude !".
(excuse the language!)

and i am proud to say... I do ... (have a good attitude)

There are alot of "can do" attitudes around this forum... I am small potatoes!
I bet he would have been amazed to see what all you Cathe-ites are doing..

Yeah! More chicks in the weight room with ATTITUDE!!! More chicks in the weight room, period. There are always very few woman of any age at my Y, except when the high school swim team works out....then they just sort of lift half heartedly.

I certainly mean business when I go in a weight room!

I think it's great that you werent intimidated by the guys in there. I laugh myself silly at the ones who grunt and throw/slam weights around while they are in there. It's shows a real lack of weight room etiquette. Keep up the good work and show 'em how it's done!

I only go the gym one week a year while on vacation and I am shocked at the way the guys throw their weights around. Like Trevor said - it's terrible etiquette and it's dangerous as well.
