Art of Strength - Providence questions

I'm thinking of getting this DVD. For anyone who has it (hello Lioness), does it use just one kettlebell at a time or does it do drills with two? Also what size kettlebells do you find yourself using with it?

I've got some space in my budget next month for this and two kettlebells. One KB will be 12kg, but I'm trying to decide if the second should be lighter(8kg) or heavier(16kg).

I've got this, and love it.

Anthony only uses 1 kettlebell in this. I started with an 8kg and a 12kg, and recently picked up a 16kg. I do use my 8kg quite a bit - there are some moves (TGUs, overhead presses, windmills, etc.) where my 12 is just currently too much. In Providence, I probably use them both equally.

I do love working with the 16kg for swings (that's the ONLY thing I can do with it - well, that and squats, but you could easily use a heavy dumbbell for that work).

For Providence specifically, I'd get the 8kg in addition to the 12kg, then pick up a 16kg a bit later when you want to start working up in strength, just doing swings.

Hi Gayle,

You only use one kettlebell at a time. I'm thinking the 8kg will be a little light for you. I usually use 18, 25, 30 or 35 pounds (sorry my kbs are in pounds) depending on the drill. For swings, squats, rows and deadlifts I usually use a 30 or 35. For overhead movements like seated press I use 25. There is a drill called triple crush where you do a bicep curl, shoulder press and tricep extension that I really have to go as low as 18 on. I did it in boot camp last week with a 25 but I had trouble with it. You have to hold it by the bell and my small hands and the weight distribution makes it difficult with a heavier bell.

I hope this all makes sense. I really love this workout. You'll be surprised how fast it moves.

Thank you, ladies! This is exactly the info I was looking for. Based on the Triple Crush description, I think I'll go for the 8kg and 12kg for now.

Only 3 more days 'til my next credit card billing cycle! :p
