"art" is in the eye of the beholder

It has been a long, odd day. So I was tootling around running field visits for work and was cruising thru a neighborhood looking for a certain Chevy Cavalier and what do I see? A TOILET?!?!?!?? So I back up the car and took another look-see. Someone was using a toilet for yard art. In all its white porcelain glory. The homeowners had "planted" it in the front yard and put a shiny red gazing ball in the bowl and some fake tropical plants in the tank. And then surrounded it with some lovely white landscaping rock??? Um, I don't think I could be their neighbor. Hubby is a landscaper so I had to call him at work and share with him as well. Oh, how I wish I had a camera phone!

Wow! That certainly is a new one! And I was worried that our neighbors might not like the small birdbath we had in our front yard at our old house!;-)

Had a neighbor once whose backyard went quite steeply uphill to the backside house.

He "planted" a toilet (a "naked one", nothing in it at all) up near the top of the back fence, could be seen from the sidewalk out front. Quite a few neighbors complained and he finally took it down.

Just interesting what some will do. I feel lucky we don't have one 'cuz DH is a former plumber:7

Yep. My late mom used to say "If you have to have something idiotic in your yard put it in the BACK yard." I once saw a big old victorian bathtub filled with petunia's in someone's front yard. I'm just glad they weren't living next door.

This is funny to me because when we replaced the toilets in our house we joked about "planting" one in the garden and decorating it. My oldest daughter was horrified at the very idea! :+
