ARGH! Wardrobe malfunction

Did this ever happen to you?

I got to the gym last night & was very distressed to find I'd forgotten to pack socks. So I had to wear my black ribbed trouser socks w/my navy yoga pants & pink/gray Shox.

Then I was further distressed to find I'd forgotten my ponytail holder. I had to borrow a rubber band from the front desk.

So, feeling like I was looking absolutely ridiculous, I couldn't completely focus on my workout & it was just a crappy lifting day.

What was I thinking when I packed my gym bag yesterday? x(

At least you weren't wearing shorts with your trouser socks. Put some sandals on, you would have looked like an old man!

I'm sure no one really even noticed.

Hi Maximus! I'm sorry you had such a lousy workout. Bummer! I no longer have these problems b/c I workout at home!:7 You do feel out of sorts when your not fitted properly at the gym or home. Remember your other thread where you asked us why we buy active apparel if we're just working out at home? Its for this reason that when I'm "put together" so to speak I feel better & my workout will be better. Its all psycho-sematic.:7 Double check the gym bag next time sweetie. Have a great weekend! Kathy:D

I got to the squash court one day and discovered I'd left my running shoes at home. I had to play in winter boots. I lost.

Hey Maximus-

So sorry to hear about your gym fashion "don't" moment!! I've had those too.. packed capri workout pants and had black socks.. not pretty.

But... I did notice you mentioned you had a pair of Shox shoes... How do you like them? I am on my second pair of Shox TLs.. While I think they are pretty goofy looking, they have been just awesomely comfortable.

I am thinking of getting a pair of crosstraining Shox.. do you have those, or the running ones? I am wondering which crosstrainers were the best.
Thanks in advance, Lynn M.

I have the crosstrainers. They're gray w/pink accents--not goofy looking at all! I've gotten lots of compliments on them.

Anyway, I love them........I have serious feet problems & I'm able to run & do step w/them w/o any pain at all, which is a major accomplishment.

I actually got them on ebay--they came from Korea or Japan or some such place. The shipping was about $30 but they cost $60 so they were still cheaper than buying them in the store.

Maximus-

Thanks for the info!

I do think the crosstrainers look better than the running ones (TL's) The springy things on the TL's go the entire length of the bottom of the shoe...kind of looks like roller skates when you are wearing them! :) Plus, the shoe is blue w/ bright red springies, I do get some strange looks at my feet when I am in the gym.

I do think I am going to get a pair of the crosstrainers to try. Do you remember which style you have? Is it Energia, or Bella, or something else?

Thanks in advance, Lynn M.

Oh yeah I have seen those--they remind me of those sneakers George Costanza wore so he could jump higher when he played basketball. :7 The crosstrainers are definitely a little less conspicuous.

Sorry--don't remember the style, but I'm pretty sure they're not available anymore. I bought them about a year ago & I think they were a style from the previous year.

I forgot my shoes once. I walked into the locker room, looked in my bag, said a curse word, and then walked right back out the door. The gym owner saw me leaving (he had just watched me walk in) and asked me why. When I told him he said, just workout in your socks. Well, it's probably not the safest thing to do -- but I was only lifting upper body anyway. So I proceeded to workout in my socks.

I've also forgotten my lifting gloves on several occasions (and have the "man hands" to prove it).

I forgot my shirt once and worked out in the same shirt I wore to work that day (luckily it was kind-of t-shirt like).

Now I double-check my pile of clothing about 10 times before I leave the house:

1. workout pants that make my butt look smaller (check)
2. workout t-shirt that doesn't show belly-button when lift arms (check)
3. clean panties (check)
4. clean training bra due to no boobs (check)
5. white socks, matching (check)
5. lifting gloves (check)

Also be sure your bag is zipped shut so that your clean panties and training bra do not fall on the floor while walking to the locker room -- just a suggestion...of course that hasn't ever happened to ME :-(

So many of us have "been there, done that"! I applaud you for following thru w/ your workout! But I know how such things can "throw you off". Sometimes I sweat it because I have black socks on with navy workout pants! How silly is that?? And the shorts, trouser socks and sandles image suggested by another poster is too hysterical. We should all feel redeemed visualizing that the next time we have a "wardrobe malfunction"! Thanks goodness you didn't experience a Janet Jackson-type "wardrobe malfunction"! When I read the subject line I thought that was were you might be leading! Laughing (especially at ourselves) is good for tbe soul! Keep smilin' (and might I suggest tossing an extra pair of emergency socks and a few extra ponytail holders in your gym bag?) Take care!

I always wear black pants to the gym with a sleeveless shirt. I have a bunch of these shirts in different colors and I really don't plan what color I wear, I just yank one out of the drawer and throw it in my gym bag. One day, I pulled out a navy blue shirt. With the black pants, I looked like a big bruise. I felt self-conscious the entire time I was at the gym. I think I'm beginning to understand why people like to wear cute matching outfits.

I like the emergency clothing collection idea :). hehe the survival pack.

I went to a (fit tour? is that it?) Gay Gasper workshop once that was long drive out of town. Getting dressed I realized I had no shorts in my bag! It looked like my options were to either wear my jeans or turn around and drive home. I spent a week trying to find a babysitter and I wasn't going home! I ended up going to the front desk and finding one ugly, way too big pair of shorts in the lost and found box - not the most desirable option! double yuk! But in my mind it beat the other two options.

Dont you just HATE having one of "THOSE" days.

My classic was forgetting the Gym shoes, and being reassured by the gym staff that it didnt matter...........I could scrumage through the lost property box for a pair!

Now!!! people who know me.....................know that I grimmiss at the thaught of going BOWLING because of the "shoe factor"

sooooooooo........while I was pondering this thaught, I went to the bathroom where I prompley pulled out my entire drawstring from the top of my track pants THAT HELD THEM UP.

Of course I had NO safety pin to re-thread, and there was no way the pants were going to stay up on there own.

So I saw immediatly saw these two incidents as the "Sign of God" telling me that I shouldnt be there..........so I left

My classic was driving 45 minutes to go on a 10 mile hike in the mountains - a great workout. When I got the the trailhead with my girlfriend, I discoverd that my DH was "helping" me by pulling out the inserts in the bottom of my boots to clean them. He forgot to tell me or put them back.

I had to hike with my feet on the bottom of the shoes where it is sewn into the tread of the boots. There was snow and nothing to insulate my poor little feet. They also took a hard beating because there was nothing to absorb the shock. We still had fun, but the bottoms of my feet were tender for about a week! And I was freezing!

When I have done this sort of thing in the past, I make myself get over it. I remind myself people are not looking at me as much as I think they are.

However, I have gone on a date with two different shoes on. When I told my date I had to go back home for a quick change, he didn't even smile. Here I was thinking I was cute & endearing & he didn't even laugh along with me.
