Well, you know, there IS this little theory floating around that A-Jock is the evil alter-ego of Cathe. If that's the case, perhaps she's just off putting together wickedly hard mish-moshes for the road trip}(

You all are too nice! Thanks for thinking of me!

My time has been consumed recently with some work projects one of which involves personal fitness coaching (a new endeavor for me) and some family matters; my husband had a heart attack a little over a month ago, and although he's made an abundantly good recovery, this has taken much time to adjust to. Plus, a dear brother of mine was recently deployed to Iraq, and my extended family is rallying in its own birdbrained, chaotic-but-well-intentioned way.

I do have an anniversary next month: 18 years of sobriety / abstinence from alcohol. It neatly coincides with my 44th birthday - makes it much easier to remember.

Hit a new personal best this weekend: graduated to 25-lb dumbbells as my lightest weightload for my upper body lifting. Not bad for an old broad.

Haven't come up with any new mish-moshes, and I need to because I'm getting a little bored with the current complement, especially Gauntlet Re-Imagined. Will let you know if I cook any up!

Thanks again!

A-Jock

Wow, there sure is alot going on for you right now. Best you be there to support them. Hope your hubby is feeling better soon. I be thinking of you and your family, of course the safety of your brother.

Have to let you know something funny-my kids think I'm crazy-I tape your mish moshes on the wall nearest me so I can quickly move from one thing to the next. Pretty soon, my whole wall is covered with mish moshes. Oh well- at least you're keeping me in shape!

Take Care,

Diana

A-Jock. I am so glad your husband is on the mend. What a terribly stressful time.

Congratulations on your anniversary next month. Eighteen years is no small change. You are an incredible woman!

Hi A-jock,

So glad (and relieved) to hear you are still around. You are one of my inspirations.

Good luck with the coaching. Best wishes for your DH's continued recovery and your brother's deployment.

And congratulations on the anniversary. That is a very big deal! And the 25 lbs weights.

I can't wait for some new Cathe workouts, so you can add to your mish moshes (not that I actually do them, but they are good reading!)

Take care and keep us up to date.

Oh, AJ, I'm so sorry to hear about all your recent troubles. You must have been terrified when your husband got sick. I know how you adore him. I'm so glad he's doing better.

I'm sorry, too, to hear about your brother being sent to Iraq. My best friend's boy, who is more like a nephew, just got back. I remember holding my breath every time I read or heard a news item about Iraq. Unfortunately, we didn't know where he was a good portion of the time, so we couldn't let out a sigh of relief until he had a chance to call or e-mail -- often weeks later.

My students and I adopted "our soldier" and one other in his unit and sent letters and gifts to help cheer them up, then he came to visit us when he got out. My kids were SO excited! To my surprise, it was truly a memorable and, for a few I believe, even a life-changing day. And it was important not only for my students, but for our "little soldier" as well.

I had no idea his visit would have such impact, on either them or him. I want you to imagine fifty ten-year-olds (twenty-five at a time) sitting quietly, almost breathless, for THREE HOURS, just listening, watching the DVD he made for them in Iraq, and politely asking questions (and actually listening to the answers). They didn't want to let him go -- even after three hours! It was almost magical. So tell this story to your brother. He might want to do something similar if the opportunity arises. It will mean more than he can ever imagine.

Take care of yourself, okay. This is a lot of stress all at once. I am glad to see you're still around, though. As you can see, you've been missed.

Jeez I never imagined your circumstances. I hope your husband continues on his course of recovery. It must have been somewhat of a shock to both of you. We are very sensitive to heart issues here in 'likes2bfit land'; DH is a cardiologist.

Hopefully your brother has adjusted well. I am so thankful for all of our people overseas. Bless him!

25# eh? pretty good for an old broad is right! Except you are not old, I beatcha by 1 year my friend.

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes! DH does indeed get bettah and bettah every day. This was a terrifying event for both of us, and I am dealing with the post-event Freaked Out Spouse Syndrome, where if I can't get ahold of him immediately over the phone I cluck like a chicken until I can. His cardiologist had this to say in his written summary after their follow-up visit (the cardiologist had to do an angioplasty and two stents through a vein in the wrist): "Cardiovascular physical examination demonstrates a very pleasant and intelligent 59-year-old man who looks younger than his stated age." (Can't argue with an opinion from a guy with an MD.)

My brother continues to send us e-mails from The Front, and he is so matter-of-fact about being in the thick of this volatile situation that it blows me away. He's far more mature than his 24 years. I just want him to come home in one piece. I'm very proud of him.

Thanks again to everyone!

A-jock

Hi Aquajock,
I hope your husband recovers quickly and that your brother returns home safely. Very impressed with your 18th year anniversary! That's a huge accomplishment. Take care.
Lisa

Wow, A-Jock, you've got a lot on your plate these days! I wish your husband all the best as he's recovering, and your brother, too, during his time in Iraq. Along with the high stress factor of your job, I know you've been on pins and needles. You really are a remarkable woman.

Oh, and Rocky wants to know how Fiona's doing.

A-Jock,

I'm very sorry to hear about your recent challenges. But I am glad that your husband is on the mend and that your brother is holidng his own in Iraq. My prayers will be with you all. Take care of yourselves.

Hello, Sooooooooooooosan (if that is still your real name) . . .

Sadly, Fiona's probation got revoked after she got caught in a dumpster behind Rick's Cabaret in downtown Minneapolis, drunk as a skunk with four albino squirrels all pawcuffed to each other doing God knows what - at her instigation. I think they found a digital camera too. She's got another 79 days and then her whole sentence will be executed.

If Rocky wants to contact her he'll have to send it snail mail to:

Squirrel Dominatrix Detention Facility
P.O. Box 6969
Minneapolis, MN 55487

All incoming and outgoing mail is screened for content and acorns.

A-Jock

Oops - forgot - came up with a new variation on the Nosebleed Blast Circuit mish-mosh:

Rhythmic Step warm-up
Body Max Power Circuit Segment
I-Max 2 blasts ONLY, pausing after blasts 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 to bang out 32 squats, plie squats or lunges EACH
Boot Camp cardio only premix, pausing after blasts 2, 4, 6 and 8 to bang out 32 squats, plie squats or lunges EACH

Enjoy!

A-Jock

Oh no! Not the albino squirrels again! I'm hiding the address from Rocky.

BTW, does Fiona have any information about Rocky's missing twin brother, Ricky?

Aquajock -

I got a nosebleed just reading your latest mish-mosh.

It's wonderful to hear from you again and I hope your DH continues to make steady progress. Good wishes to your brother overseas, as well.

Don't be a stranger, lady! ;)

Angie

A-Jock - it's so nice to see you. I'm happy your DH is recovering and my thoughts are with your brother overseas.

I'm going to do the nosebleed mish-mosh, but I'll have to do a bit of substituting - Imax 3 for Imax 2 and a different warm-up.

Thanks for thinking of us even when you've obviously got much more important things to worry about:)
