autism awareness month!

just wanted to share that b/c its a disorder then hasn't been understood much until now. there are more public service announcements more groups, and even celebs getting invovled! but there is still so much more to be done like research for cause/better treatments, more programs to help those in need, and to stop the discrimination and labeling of these kids!!!

i did not ask but when i went to pick viola up one day i saw a big sign in the lobby about it being awareness month so that is encouraging. i think our school does the very best they can with the program and help they have. they really try hard. in fact one of the special ed aides is doing a program every tuesday for this month by taking neurotypical girls and girls with developmental disorders and having a "play-date" in a sense. she wants to try to help these girls socialize.

that is a big issue with us right now is viola little OCD like behaviors and her socialization skills. she is a very friendly little girl but she goes on and on about her obsessions which is care bears,power-puff girls, and my little ponies LOL. can you imagine 2 hours in the laundry mat with this little girl going on about all the toys she has LOL. its hard for those that don't know to understand she can't always help it.
