Anyone up for Post-Partum Check-in???

Hi Girls,
With so many of us having babies lately, I was thinking that this might be a nice way to stay connected. I can't post every day, but maybe continue like we did with the preg/TTC forum (one a weekend, and one each weekday-if possible). Of course, anyone is welcome!!! If there is enough interest, I'll start it.
Hope all is well with the babes!
Kate-How are you???
-Jen
p.s. Melanie-thanks for the suggestion!:)

Hey Jen! I'll join ya! How is Aidan doing?

Julia is great, other than some lost sleep at night, but that's to be expected. If only Mike had boobs tho! She has the Most Voracious appetite at 7PM and wants to nurse for hours. It takes her so long to fall asleep at night, but day sleep is terrific.

Monday Mike will go backk to his normal schedule and I'll be "on duty" for getting Gina out the door - I'm scared to death! HELP! How am I going to do it!

I'm not even kind of thinking baout workouts. I had a small "skid mark" (tear) and I opted to not have it stitched. My midwife said to just SIT for a couple weeks - no stairs and very minimal up and about. Fine with me!

Looking forward to seeing Stephanie, Candra, Lisa, and Trish join us! (any other October babies I'm missing?!) And anybody else too!
Have a great weekend!

Yeah, I am so happy to hear from you Kate! I am glad that Julia is doing so well too. You will do fine this week with getting Gina out the door on time! I have been sending Andy to his daycare (more like a preschool) a few days each week, and it's been a struggle to get him there for 9, but I did it. Now, my mom has to drive me for this next week as well.

My tummy is NOT going down as much as I would like. I still have gas/bloating:confused:. I just came back from an indoor yard sale with a new baby tub for $3. But, I was asked when my baby is due twice:(. And, one lady who was not so swift asked me how old the baby was. I told her one week. She then looked at my belly and asked me when my next one is due:mad:. I said, "I just told you that I had a baby a week ago." She felt bad.

I plan to walk up and down my sidewalk today (ooh, big workout), but my incision still didn't heal all the way, so...

I am sure you don't mind that you have to rest for a while. We'll be back to working out in no time! I am really itching to do something b/c I am not normally THIS big!

Take care! And, I am waiting to hear from our other check-in gals!

-Jen

Jen, Sorry for the rude comment! Doens't do too much for the self-esteem does it?
Good for you getting walking in though! The furthest I've walked is to get the mail!:p

Kids need me..gotta run!

i'll check in with you guys, but only have time to stop by once a week or so. gotta run- oldest daughter turned 8 today and we are having 14 2nd graders over very soon. Mimi is 3 mos.

I'll check-in after baby is born! Although I don't think I can always keep up daily, but I would love to have the after support with my working out and all the fun that comes with having a baby with it!

Hi Kate! Sounds like you're doing great!

Jen - Some people just need to keep their mouths shut! Take it easy girl, you had a c-section!

Lisa

We used to do a weekly check in when I was part of post-mom check ins. Occasionally, when posts got really long, we'd make a mid-week check in. You new mommies are so busy. ;)

Jen, hugs on your comment. I once said this to a new mom at the grocery store (about 15 years ago, when I was naiive). You're weight will come off, I know it's hard, but try to focus on your wee-one right now. It's too soon to w/o anyway. After I had my last son, I didn't lose ONE lb in hospital. I couldn't believe it! How do you have a baby and not lose ONE lb? It may help to wear different type of clothes to "hide" the belly for now? It's amazing what you can hide with clothes. Great job with garage sale, BTW!!

Kristan, nice to hear from you! Are four kids alot tougher than 3?

Kate, sounds like you are doing wonderful!!!

Morris (our leader), are you still out there? Maggie?

Kudos to all you wonderful women!!

Well, I actually WAS able to walk around Hershey Park (very slowly) without a wheelchair! I am feeling it big time today, however:(! I may go to church, but other than that, I am laying low. It did feel good to walk, though.
Aidan was ready to party a few times lastnight, and now he is sleeping soundly (of course). He was a trooper at the park too. We had him wrapped up in a little bundle in his car seat/stroller thing. We met my sister, her DH and two little girls there too.
DS #1 continues to push buttons at home. I sure do hope that subsides and SOON! He is acting like he did about 6 months ago, but he did not regress on the potty training (thank God)!
I am off to lay down!
-Jen
p.s. I am so happy that a lot of you are able to check in.

Kristan, It's hard to believe Mimi's at 3 mos. already! Hope the party went well!

Lisa & Trish, We're waiting for you!!!

Jen, PLEASE be careful with yor walking!! ((hugs)) How is your bleeding? I've literally sat on my butt the whole week and my bleeding seems just about done. The midwives get on you BAD (in a good way) if you do anyhting but sit and rock your baby. I hope DS1 comes around - I'm sure he will. DDs have been extra helpful and very sweet to Julia. Although Isabel's head rubs on her are more like noogies!!:p

Mike said he's going to be around in the mornings for me again this week. I'll be on my own during the day, which is totally fine with me. It's just the 7-8AM that will make my head spin! I love that man!!!!!:D

Hi ladies!
I'd love to join in the check-in!

Kate--I hope tomorrow goes well for you! Friday was my first day completely alone with all the kids. The boys were on fall break, so no school/preschool. They did great! I was stressing over nothing. Hope your day is as stress-free!

Jen--Boy can I empathize with the tummy not going down. Mine still looks like I'm at least 7 months pregnant! I only have one non-maternity outfit that I can wear. :( And I hear ya on the gas. Oh well. It may just be the only time in our lives that we are justified to fart at will. :)

Hi to Lisa, Melanie and Kristan!! Yey for Trish!! Not long now!!
-----
Well, little one is getting fussy. DH took the big boys to the zoo for the day, and I haven't even gotten to get dressed. Still in PJs. Charlie has been very gassy and fussy today, so he's not let me put him down much. I did manage to put on a load of laundry though. Yesterday I took my oldest DS to Target, and it was SO nice to walk around and SHOP! Well, better go. Talk to you all later!!

Hi ladies. here is a picture of me and Mimi at her baptism last weekend. I am exercising as much as I can, which can be 3 time a week or 6 times a week- depends on the week. I've been on an Amy Bento kick lately. I still haven't bought ASC3 because, quite frankly, I still haven't mastered ASC2 (section 5)! THe weather here is cooling so I'm hoping to run more to enjoy the fall weather.

Hi Ladies!

I'd love a post-partum check-in (boy these pounds are stubborn:mad:!), but I'll only be able to check in a couple of times a week. My computer time has been somewhat limited.

Congrats to all of you who had babies--Stephanie, Jen, Kate--I saw Kate's announcement, but missed the others, even though I was looking every few days. Weren't there more October babies--a bunch in fact?

Anyway--we are all fine here, just crazy busy. I need to post some new pics of baby Gwen. She's getting nice and stout (but then she kind of had a head start at 10 lbs.....)

Good to hear from ya'll

ETA--Kristan you look fantastic--your pic loaded whilst I was typing and lovely Mimi has so much hair--wow!

Maggie:)

Wow, Kristan!!! Mimi looks so wise & girlie. :) You two look fabulous. I"m so excited that the pics are finally showing up. BTW ASC3 is much easier to conquer than the 2nd one. Amy Bento rocks....and dare I say?....she's my favorite right now. Gulp. Yes, Cathe has slipped to 2nd. Is that even legal to say on this forum?!?!?!?

Stephanie, I haven't gotten "dressed" all week!.........glad you got some shopping done. I still haven't left the house!

Kristan, you & mimi are both beautiful! I think you look like Laura Linney!

Maggie, good to see you! how are all the kids???!

hi melanie!

----------
tomorrow afternoon we take the girls for julias newborn pix. will get some of just julia, some of all the girls. I hope it goes well!

I am so excited that Mike is staying home for the AM again this week! I'm not waking him up to help at night (no boobs = useless!:p) and I am so tired at 7AM! It's nice to be able to stay in bed if Julia is sleeping!

Kristan - I love Mimi's hair and you look great!!

Still pg and waiting ladies...feeling so tired and huge. I'm glad at least I know there's an end to this if I don't go on my own although Oct. 30 seems soooo far away right now.

Lisa

you guys are so sweet. My prepregnancy clothes are mocking me! Still cannot fit into most of them.

Could someone provide an October cheat sheet? I am having a hard time remembering the new moms, names of babies, other kids, etc. I know Kate has 3 girls, Stephanie has 3 boys and Jen1 has 2 boys, but the details have escaped me and I know I am forgetting some.

Kristan, I love your Aviator. Soooooooooo cute!

I have a pregnancy cheat-sheet. Now that you guys have "crossed over" I probably will only be lurking (miss you). I'm the only TTC'er who's been checking in on other forum too. ;)

Hi ladies!

Kristan --Your Mimi is BEAUTIFUL!! And Kate is right, you look like Laura Linney -- and you look so thin to have had a baby just a few months ago! Lucky duck!

Kate--How's Julia? How are you? Are you healing well?

Jen--How's Aiden? How are you feeling? Did you have a c-section too?

Lisa--Sending labor vibes your way!!

Trish--How are you??

Maggie--How's the baby? How are you? How's home schooling going?

Melanie--Don't you dare leave us! You're always welcomed here! Silly! Anyone who can make such divine muffins and share her recipe, is welcome!! Which reminds me, I'm making a batch today!!
----------

OK cheat sheet:
Stephanie
age: 34
Kids: three boys: Oliver, 6, Henry, 3, and Charlie, 2 1/2 weeks
career: former journalist/writer now SAHM

Also, please include whether you had a c-section or not. I have questions for my fellow c-sectioners. Mainly, when are you/did you start working out again and at what intensity, etc.

Now I must go get some laundry done. I miss my mom not being here this week!! Henry still has a cough and I'm trying to keep him away from Charlie, but he adores his new brother and wants to hold his hand and kiss him all the time. (which is really hard for me the germphobe...)

(((Hugs))) to all the mommies and soon-to-be mommies!!!
