anyone know how much flax oil per day

I just bought a bottle and am unsure how much I should incorporate into my day. I thought i'd put some in my whey shakes.
Anyone know how much to use per day?

I usually take between 1-2 T. per day. Just as a warning - the stuff tastes really nasty. I no longer mix it in with my food because I had a hard time choking it down. Now I take a spoonful and I always have a small nibble of something (usually an almond or two) to chase it down with and get rid of the terrible taste. Also, I experienced some gastric discomfort for the first week or so of taking it - although that side effect has thankfully gone away.

Hahahaha!!!

I always make homemade hummus (it's my addiction) - and I started with extra virgin olive oil (yummy and healthy!!) - then went to grapeseed oil (yummy and maybe healthier!!) - then decided to try flax seed oil.....

It may have health benefits out of this world, but it sure was able to make me not eat my hummus -- and I didn't think that was humanly possible!!!!!

well I hope I didn't discourage you too much.... as awful as it is, I've been taking it daily for about 3-4 months now and it has made a huge difference in my hair, skin and nails as well as pms symptoms. So, it can't be THAT bad!

I've been taking flax seed oil capsules for about 2 weeks and I have noticed that my nails seem stronger. It's helping somewhat with my constipation as well. I just don't think I could choke down a liquid form of it.
 
I think (but I'm not positive) that it is 1 Tablespoon for every 100 lbs of weight.

I weigh 128lbs and take 1 Tablespoon every morning. I take it just before I eat breakfast.

I thought it was nasty when I first starting taking it but now (a year later) it does not bother me at all.

Well I don't know, but I see in this issue of Oxygen mag that I am looking at where a trainer Tosca Reno... has 1 tbsp ground flaxseed with her breakfast in the morning.. then another tbsp with her last meal in the evening.... hope this helps some.... Rhonda
 
I put about 1 tablespoon in my breakfast smoothie everyday. I don't even taste it. My smoothie also has protein powder, mixed berries, cranberry juice, a small amount of splenda and ice cubes. Yummy!!! And so good for me!!!
 
Just another note....there are some polynutrients lost in flaxseed as it is converted to oil. The best way to take it to get all the benefits is the actual seed and ground...:)...Carole
 
I may be losing some poly nutrients is it,but I take 1000 mg in soft gel cap. something is getting in there good inspite of the processing.
 
I take the oil, one tablespoon twice a day. I have been for a year now. I use the high lignan kind. It works the best for me. I just chase it with cold water. The benifits for me far out weight the taste. It has almost eliminated my pms symtoms and hot flashes. I incorporate some of the meal in breads, but I can't get enough that way.

I just bought the high lignan oil last night. The woman at the vitamin store said the oil is the best way to take it. I was skeptical about being able to swallow it and wanted to try it in capsule form or the seeds, but I listened to her. I'm really excited if this stuff will help with PMS...

I'm about to go try to swallow some down. Chase it with water huh? Okay here goes.

eeewwww, I'm back and it was gross. I'm going to have to blend it for surex(
 
okay folks. help me out here. I have flax seed oil.Been taking 1 day of 500 mg. Was on a list which posted that it should be 1,000 mg per day. On my bottle of GNC it says1 or 2 caps, 1-3 x a day.

So increased my dosage, then bought the larger amount 1,000. Well on that bottle it says. 1 cap 3 x a day.

then I go to a web site to get this thing down and they are saying 1-6 caps, 1-3 x a day.

It's like come on. It does not appear to be consistant anywhere on this particular oil.

but,.. they do concur that 3 T is okay but then I did not read if that's 1- 3 x a day either.

I guess it's just plain good no matter how you take it. I know I feel better. This is some wonderful stuff.

I also decided to just take the one a day at 1,000.
 
I take 1 tablespoon each day of the oil and have noticed that my skin, hair and nails have a much better appearance. The way I take it is either in a smoothie (I usually have a protein smoothie once a day) or I put it on like salad dressing (in addition to my low cal salad dressing). I really like the nutty flavor. I've never tried it by just taking it by itself, so it might not taste well that way. But it does taste well on a salad. In a smoothie, I don't really taste it at all!
