Anyone know anything about BodyPump?

I want to get certified to teach BodyPump but when I went to their site it seemsto indicate that you have to be employed by a gym that is licensed thru them which I'm not. So is this a futile dream? Anyone know anything?

Hi,
I think you have to have ACE or equivalent certification, then a gym that you work for then you take their certification. Their certification requires that you teach Body pump for a certain amount of hours plus you have to send in an actual video tape of you teaching a class showing off your form and then it gets evaluated...I was listening to the instructors complaining about how long it took to get evaluated and the ones that did get certified said you had to keep going to quarterlies for updates.
I was listening in because I had goten my spinning certification without any hassle and when I heard it took that much for body pump I figured forget it.

Don't wipe it out yet!! I am a certified BodyPump instructor and currently not certified by ACE or AFAA(and at the time of my certification) my regular certification had lapsed. While I am working on get recertified (I'm switching from ACE to AFAA) I find BodyPUMP to be excellent. Yes, you do need to go through a club that already has it, so is licensed. The issue is that some instructor's who are certified to teach it don't like the quarterlies, which are no longer REQUIRED. I personally fount the training superior and that it has improved my instruction in other classes over all. Members LOVE it and if you are choreography impaired, this is the workout for you because as an instructor you only have to memorize, not create it. I would call a few clubs and see it they are in need of more instructors, most are because some get certified and think it's too much - I personally don't get it. They may be willing bring you on teaching other classes and then once you're hired, you can register for training with that club as your licensed club.
