Anyone here have FEET problems when working out?

Our feet take a beating doing step and high impact aerobics, running, etc. For me, the balls of my feet are giving me grief during my workouts recently. It's not pain, but they feel "burny" and sometimes my toes go numb. Last night during Circuit Max I had to stop twice to remove my right shoe and massage the feeling back into my foot. I have good shoes which seem very comfortable (Rykas) and even put in ball-of-the-foot inserts for extra cushion there. Anybody have this problem and if so, what's the remedy? I'm taking a week off for vacation so maybe my feet are just needing a rest - but any suggestions would be great because it is disrupting my workouts.

I'm no expert, but the only times I've experienced that sensation are after long hikes where my feet swell and my boots which fit perfectly in the morning, get too small. You said this was recent. Did you recently change shoes? Or did you recently add the ball-of-the-foot inserts? Those might be cutting off some of the circulation to your feet. Just some things to think about.

yes I agree everytime my toes/feet have gotten numb, it is because the shoes are too tight in some places. I always have that problem cuz i am in between an 8 and a 8 1/2. I always used to get the 8's and got the numbness but the current sneaks i have r 8 1/2's and I dont get numb any longer. Although the ball of my right foot just started bothering me too. not both just the right and my sneaks arent new and I havent changed anything recently. It just feels like its hard to step on sometimes when im takin a class

Oh I have a myriad of foot problems. I have wide, flat feet & the total lack of an arch causes pain in almost every aspect of my life. They typically cramp up after maybe 15 minutes of step. I walk alot b/c I live in a fairly urban setting and my house is only a few blocks from work, but even walking a couple of miles a day causes pain by 5:00. I have to tear arch supports out of all my shoes. Sometimes I feel like the Little Mermaid. :(

Anyway, I've found running shoes to be much more comfortable than cross trainers. They're lighter, they have more cushion in the upper part of the shoe but less arch support in the sole.

I walked 16 miles over the weekend for the Cancer Society's Relay for Life - for now maybe I'll just blame it on that. I don't want to blame the problem on my new Rykas because I love them and find them so comfortable but may have to experiment with other shoes as well. (sigh...) staying fit sure hits you in the pocketbook, don't it????
