Anyone had a dental implant?

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone has had major oral surgery while pregnant, such as an implant. My pregnant sister is 12 weeks, and her dentist refused to perform the procedure because she is still in the first trimester, but her baby doctor said local anesthesia was perfectly safe. Therefore, we are confused. She is suffering from severe tooth pain and is unsure how to deal with it while pregnant.

My teeth suffered greatly during my third pregnancy, and it made me look so bad that I couldn't look in the mirror without feeling disgusted. I had to save for several weeks in order to get dental implants and give myself a beautiful smile. I was worried that my ability to try them would be hampered by my pregnancy, but everything is fine; I haven't felt any discomfort after the procedure for a few months now, and they don't cause me any problems. If you are in a similar situation, getting implants is the best option.

My aunt had dental implants. I know she had to go on a liquid diet when they were putting them in.
Also, if you do it make sure the implant teeth matches your mouth. If they put them in a they are too big or two small it doesn’t look right for your face.
I assume if you do get them make sure you have a doctor’s note if you get on a airplane.

As for your sister maybe the dentist want to do it because it is metal. It could hurt the fetus. Maybe he was concerned about that. Also, if she breast feed the child and putting in these implants may not happen with the metal.

sorry to hear about your sister. I hope she has a successful birth!

While I'm not a medical professional myself, I can understand why her dentist might be hesitant to perform a major oral surgery like an implant during the first trimester of pregnancy. On the other hand, it's reassuring to hear that her baby doctor believes local anesthesia is safe.

If your sister is still unsure about what to do, it might be worth getting a second opinion from another dentist or consulting with a specialist who has experience with dental implants and pregnancy. Dental Implants in Bay Village, OH could be a great place to start - they may be able to provide more information about the risks and benefits of the procedure during pregnancy, as well as other options for managing her tooth pain.
