Anyone from Oswego, NY area?

Beavs

Cathlete
I know this is pretty much a long shot to ask but I'm hoping someone can tell me what Oswegians do for kicks and grins as I will have to spend a bit of time there in a few weeks and would like to avoid thumb twiddling. Hopefully the fun doesn't involve cow tipping or line dancing.

Well Beaves, If I were you I would bring along some really good reading.

Oswego, although I am not from there, (TG) is a sleepy little college town. You may be able to get in some good walks, but there is not much for entertainment. We have traveled there numerous times for sports and I refuse to spend the night there. I will drive back to Rochester in a blinding snow storm before I stay there over night.

Hopefully I haven't offended anyone form Oswego.

LOL!!! I just hope it is better than Ogdensburg. Even the Amish are bored there. Hopefully I can find a dang shopping mall or decent food. What do ya think Judy? Any hope???

If you want to shop, head south to Syracuse. The Carousel center is only 35-40" away and a decent mall. We lived in Syracuse for 11 years, and the Carousel Center was built while we were there. Do a Google search on it. I haven't been to it in 3-4 years. The NY State Fair opens up in Syracuse in mid August also. It can be a fun experience. The international pavillion has all sorts of delicious food. If you like wine you can visit the wine pavillian too and learn about NY state wineries.

I not so sure about the food in Oswego either, but there could be some good restaurants. Why don't you try Google search of the Oswego Chamber of Congress?

Hi Beavs,

I agree with Judy; you'll definitely have to travel to the Syracuse area for some shopping. There isn't much to do in the Oswego area except enjoy the beautiful sunsets and walk along the lakeshore, no cow tipping or line dancing.(I think!) Are you staying at a hotel in the area? I believe there is only one with a small, yet nice workout facility and pool. What type of food do you like? There are a couple restaurants worth checking out. If you'd like more information email @ [email protected].

A friend in fitness,

I will email you Shirl. I will actually be traveling in from Watertown for day as my mom is getting her dialysis treatment (we will be on vacation and can't get into the Watertown facility of course!) so I won't be looking to drive to Syracuse (although both the state fair and Armory Square are entertaining). I suppose I can kill some time with a a hike, some eats, and possibly a gym visit ;-)
Thank you both!

I'm from Rochester, but my brother went to school there (Oswego State College) and I've been there a few times. Unfortuneatly, I was in college at the time too, and can't recall too much! Too much partying while visiting my brother!}(

If I remember right, there isn't too much, but an area for some good long runs or bike trails if you like that! They might have some boat rides on the lake(ie: sunset cruises or see the area ones) those are usually pretty neat.

I agree with the others, check out Syracuse, closer than Rochester. Hopefully, you'll be there for the NY State Fair. That's fun. They usually will have some good concerts too, I'm not sure who is coming this year though.

Enjoy the peacefullness!!

;-)

Beavs are you from Ogdensburg? I have heard of it since I live in Tioga County PA. IF you are, you are probably the closest person I know of who does Cathe!
