Anyone ever taken Body Step classes?

I'm thinking of going to a local gym which is only about 15 minutes from my house and trying a Body Step class. They also offer Body Pump, Body Flow, and Body Combat. Any feedback is appreciated. I haven't been to a gym in years and would like to know about these classes, such as choreography and intensity.

I've never taken one but they started them this summer at Gold's Gym while I was working there. What I heard about it was that it was supposed to be athletic intervals with a step. I heard that it was going to be one of the most intense classes. I never had a chance to try it though because I always seemed to be scheduled at the same time as this class.

Hi,

I teach Body Step & Body Pump classes. It's a great class, and yes, it is based on athletic intervals.

Linda, are the classes harder than Cathe's workouts? Those are the only workouts I do. Will I need to be able to get through a full IMax workout before I attempt these classes?

Hi Kelley, I teach BodyPump and BodyFlow and have done a lot of BodyStep classes. They are atheletic but if you are used to Cathe you might find the warm up and first track kinda boring. The choreography isn't complicated so you can modify up or down easily. The class has 2 'power peaks' that never fail to get my heart rate way up there! You'll do some slow work for the lower body as well as a speed track with the step down to just the riser. At our gym there are participants of all ages and fitness levels in classes, you'll be fine, just listen to your body. The music in these classes is usually pretty great, very motivating and good fun. Enjoy the class!:)

Thanks for the info Laurie. As much as I love Cathe, I would love get in a class again. I used to teach in my late 20s and it so much fun with a class. I just didn't want to be the only person in class huffing and puffing and marching in place. I still cannot get through but maybe half of IMax 2 with modifications, but it sounds like maybe I can do this. I know in a class setting, I'll be more energized.
