Anyone else having trouble with...

side lateral raises for shoulders? Or is it just me. I can not for the life of me get past 9 pounds on these. In STS, my muscles give out about rep #10 and I STRUGGLE to finish the set. I can't see ever see me doing more than 10 pounds max!!!!!!!!!!! May be it's the 15 reps...Front raises I can a little heavier. Front presses are hard foe me too, I feel like my neck is straining. Any suggestions?
I love STS and am definitly stronger in my back and biceps and legs. Love the chest exercises too. Just upset about shoulders, thanks for listening. Kay

Me too!

I have no advice for you but wanted to let you know that I'm right there with you! My shoulders have always been my weakest muscle group and seem to gain the least strength. I have a horrible time with side lateral, that more then any other exercise. For STS I end up doing the bent arm version. I can go a little heavier with that or atleast maintain what my workout card says to use. I was wondering myself if it was better to lower my weight or stick with the bent arm version? Anyway, it's not just you!

Me, too. Actually I haven't been able to get past 8lbs but I'll keep working at it. Don't have any suggestions other than that.

You REALLY want help with this, don't you? LOL!;)

(I already posted my suggestions on your thread in the STS forum).

(FYI: lateral = side, so 'side lateral' is redundant...though quite a few instructors say it. I guess they don't think people will understand them otherwise?)

Can't help you, but this is also the area that is taking the longest to improve in my own body.

Thank goodness for microloading or I'd never see any changes. I am currently experimenting with half pound additions rather than whole pound increases, and doing extra long holds, in hopes of improving the situation.

oops, Kathryn, I should have read your STS response first! What you are suggesting is exactly what I've been trying. Nice to have confirmation that this is a reasonable path forward :)

Do I sound that desperate?:) I guess I'm venting because I can lift heavier with every other muscle group but shoulders! so is it better to do less reps w/ heavier weight, or go lighter and do more reps till failure?????????? Help:) thanks in advance.
