Anyone else a lady/female motorcycle rider?

Hey all! I just got my early 40th birthday present this weekend. It's a beautiful Harley 1200 XL sportster! I spent a couple of hours today with DH teaching and me riding in the subdivision. I'm going to take the beginners safety course next week. We have a Softail and I've always enjoyed riding. It's much different when you are in control, though. I am loving it, but also wondering when I'll feel really comfortable and capable. I'm so glad I've been faithful to my Cathe workouts, because my legs are so strong I have no trouble holding that bike up! Any suggestions from other riders?
I'm soooo excited and I love this bike!

Lynn,
Congratulations and Happy B'day! I was a driver years ago. Very little though, because I never got my license. I actually rode one of the big Harleys, a super glide I think. And I was a little thing then. My husband teased me about the seat being wider than my butt. [can't say that now] I did love the feeling of being in control. I feel it is usually the other drivers you have to watch out for. Now I prefer riding on the back. I have noticed at a lot of the poker runs, there are several lady riders. And it seems most of them prefer a Sportster. Enjoy!!!

Looks like this is the thread for Lynns and Lindas!

I have a 1996 Suzuki Bandit 600. It used to be my DH's, but he got a new one in November. I got my license 3 years ago by taking a 3-day motorcycle course. But, due to us only having one bike, I did not drive it much until this year. Now I drive it all the time! I found that once I got out there in the city where I was forced to stop, start, turn at slow speeds, etc. I began to feel much more confident.

Good luck!

I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU

Ok, not really! But I am VERY jealous! I'm taking the safety course next month. In the state of NJ we get "stamped" if we pass & don't have to take the road test. The class is ON my 40th day.

My dream is to have a 1200 Sporster, too.

Live long, Ride Free!

RE: I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU

We own a BMW motorcycle. I much prefer to ride on the back and let DH do the driving. I just love holding on and watching the world go by.

Happy Birthday and congratulations on your present. What a wonderful guy to do that for you!

I have been riding for about 4 years now and am looing to get a new bike real soon. It was my goal to ride before I turned 30 and now, I never want to be a passenger again. I'm a slow learner so it took me awhile to get the hang of it, but now, I feel so comfortable on my bike. We ride almost every weekend. It helped alot by following my fiance so I could concentrate on riding instead of were we were going. It's a great hobby! Enjoy and ride safe!

RE: I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU

I don't ride, but my Dad and Stepmom each have their own bike. I love watching the expressions on the faces of my kids' friends when they say, "Yeah, my grandmother drives a Harley!":7

Blessings,

RE: Count me in as.....

Thanks to all for the support! I just checked the site after working 3 longggggg 12 hour+ days in CCU! I'm off tomorrow and plan to practive on the bike, then we are going to head for "Dawgs on Hogs" rally in Lake Somerville.
I am signed up for the course this coming week. Will let you know how it goes.
Trevor, I hope you get your dream bike one of these days! You deserve it! One of our friends has a bike with pipes that are so curvy I swear it's a sexy looking machine. That's the first feeling you get looking at it. Is that crazy or what?
Thanks, again, all for the enouragment and congrats!!
My motto lately has been "live to ride, ride to live" but when I'm not riding, Cathe is my biggest and best vice!
