Anyone done Marilu Henner's 30 Day Health Makeover?

Hi Everyone,

I just took out the two books from our library and am contemplating a total overhaul of the eating of my family. My husband is fighting a serious bacterial yeast infection and can have NO sugar or anything that the yeast can feed on . SO, we're ready to take the plunge. I've been transferring us to Soy Milk, cutting back on sugar slowly (everyone but DH, he's sugar-free now!)etc, etc.

I'm looking for feedback on this method. I also see she has a website, but it's got an annual fee after a week trial period. Please let me know if this is something you'd recommend or not, or any other sites/books for us to check out.

Thanks! If anyone will know, it's this educated crowd.

Dear Tricia,

I just recently started following the Marilu Henner eating program. I really like it. I feel more energized and the scale has finally started moving down. I thought it would be difficult to follow but it is not. I was on vacation for 10 days and didn't stick to the plan, and I notice a big difference. I don't allows food combine, but I stick to no meat, no dairy, no sugar & limited alcohol.

Dear Debbie,

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been working at it? I mean, aside from your vacation time! I'm just now reading the Total Health Makeover, but I also got the 30 day THM book. Did you use both of these? Or maybe, are you using her new Body Victory tools? I saw these on a link from her website and thought that might be a good tool to use once I read these two books. I'm very interested in what has been working vs what was tough to change, etc.

Thanks for the reply!

I started food combining (Marilu's plan) about 2 years ago, and haven't felt better in my life...I'm energized, clear skin (for the first time since I was 12, now 29), have lost the "layer" of chubble I thought would never go away (was never overweight, just...Well, you know)...I don't eat dairy, though still eat red meat (rarely, once a month maybe), no pork...

Feel free to e-mail me offline with any questions...I have THM, 30 Day THM and Healthy Kitchen...I would BUY the 30 Day book (got mine off of Amazon.com super cheap)...Follow it...You'll notice a difference...

"...am contemplating a total overhaul of the eating of my family."

Is anyone else here worried that Tricia is contemplating eating her family? }(

Sorry Tricia, I couldn't resist. I'm in a goofy mood at the moment.

OMG, Suz!!!!

I almost fell off my chair laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had no idea I worded it like that. I am not contemplating cannibalizing my DH and children, don't worry!!

That reminds me of a line it Charlie and The Chocolate factory - Johnny Depp (Willy Wonka) tells the kids,"Everything in this room is edible, including you and me. But that my dear children is cannibalism and is frowned upon in most countries".

I am still laughing, thanks Suz - I needed that!!

Tricia,

I actually started with the Body Victory kit and bought the THM & 30 Day book afterwards. I should have read the books 1st they have more details about the program. The books and body victory kit have the same ideas with a little variation but with a lot of overlapping.

I liked the CD's in the body victory kit. Each day for 21 days for about 10 minutes Marilu gives you a pep talk. They actually are a repeat of the information that is found each day in the 30 day book such as a motivational tip, exercise tip, food tip & organizational tip.

The hardest part for me was having fruit (on-rising) and than waiting 1 to 2 hours to have breakfast. This is the one time of day I do not food combine. I have a fruit smoothie (soy or rice milk) with frozen fruit and a scoop of protein powder. My other meals I don't have a problem with sticking with either a starch or protein meal.
