Anyone do any resolutions this year - Progress to date?

I remember there was a thread about resolutions. I usually don't do them but did this year. For those of you who did how are you doing?

Mine were

1. Worry less over what I can't change/ don't overreact

2. Make the house a home

3. Be happier in my job or get a new one

4. Get out/ be open to relationships

5. Do some stuff for me

None of them were easy but I'm doing pretty well even though I've stubbed my toe and run into walls on some of them.

1. I'm trying really hard on overreact less, relaxed approach. This is VERY difficult especially for a high energy single Mom, with a lot going on with kids! With DD first in Quebec, then France and DS with medical issues (brain CTScan in Jan) this is toughest. I'm working on trusting (though not blindly) that kids will make good decisions, trusting (again not blindly) the medical specialist. This week over drinks a friend made a good point - DS has had 4 seizures since 04 - 2 away from me and he ALWAYS got the medical attention he needed even when I'm not there. This is an ongoing focus.

2. Last night I got a sofa, ottoman and chair delivered :) I've got a contractor for fixing the den in the spring and kitchen plans are under way.

3. Job - had an interview - even if I'm not going the next round, I got a very nice reply from the dept VP (I hear she is very tough). She is very tough and still said she was very impressed with me and wants to keep in touch for another opening. I'm going for PMP certification. So dry!

4. Getting out. I've got plans for meeting 3 women friends and a guy friend this month. Gosh that's 1 a week! As those on the daily check-in know I had drinks with a guy friend - we had a great time - really clicked - conversation flowed ,we laughed alot,we found a lot in common but STOP - NO wrong way to go. It was disapointing but hey I did get out. I've got tentative plans for March with a guy friend, a wedding in FL and I'm going to see my best guy friend from the 90s (married now with kids) when I go to FL. Haven't seen him in about 8 years!

5. DO stuff for me. Did the MAC Makeover - thanks to Nancy! Got my hair higlighted.

I was feeling like this was the week of brick walls so I had to post this. I actually have made progress!

Wonder how you ladies have done?

I didn't write any down (that I remember), but I have:

1)rinsed with a mouthwash every day, brushed AND FLOSSED every day! (This is my biggest accomplishment!)
2)minimum of 10 minutes cardio every day, with full body weights 2-3 times per week (and down about 6-8 pounds):p
3)been out with DH 2 times (a record for us)
4)had more patience with my kids and at work

It's good to keep a focus on what's good for us!

Hi Jenn:

That's great. It's so difficult to change things and get them into the habit mode!

Congrats on the 6-8 lb loss. Great going out with DH when you have kids. Ah yes that patience thing, I know it's a virtue but so difficult!

Hey Robyn~
Great job on your goals, too! It is hard to even MAKE new goals...what to focus on, what is really important. You chose some TOUGH goals, and have made lots of progress with them!

Good luck with the kitchen (whatever your plans are!). We are in the process of remodeling our entire house...that's where the patience thing comes in! We are finally seeing some progress, after 6 months (we're doing it ourselves!).

RE: Anyone do any resolutions this year - Progress to d...

Great topic Robyn!

Well I have to say ACK I have failed miserably in my resolutions. I was going to try a new eating plan, focus on relaxing and destressing and also had my yearly financial goals. Too soon to tell on the latter but the first two: meh. Total bust. I found myself completely disinterested in pursuing an eating plan. My diet is ninety percent healthy anyway and I just had no desire to become a food martinet. With the relaxation, I did go to a couple of meditation classes but really didn't like them. I'm so stressed about our living situation and all the ancilliary things that come with it that I just can't relax. Once we move I think I will be able to focus more on it.

Ah well, there's always 2007 :p

Good job, Robyn!

My goal was to bill more hours at work so I can become partner. This first month was just okay, nothing spectacular. Too many dentist/oral surgeon appointments getting in the way. I need to learn to stay later on days when I have no appointments or come in on weekends. I am going in today, Saturday, and should be able to do a lot of billing.

In any event, the managing partner asked me yesterday if I was happy with my raise and told me that he's trying to change the partnership rules, which would make it easier for me to thrive as a partner! This was totally unsolicited! So, regardless of how I see my own performance, it seems pretty clear that I am wanted and appreciated at my job and for that I am VERY grateful. I've worked for lots of difficult people in my time, and there is NOTHING like being appreciated!! I feel very lucky, and more motivated now than ever. :D

Keep up the great work, Robyn!

Yay for resolution keepers!

I am doing pretty well with mine. I have been consistent with my exercise. I already have more muscle definition and the " more volunteering" is in the works. I start on Feb 15th at one of the local retirement/assisted living communities. I will be doing 4-5 hrs on Wednesdays. I will be leading group activities, serving as exercise motivator/partner, doing individual visitation for those who need/want it, and helping in the beauty shop. I am most excited about this resolution because it is about others instead of myself. I can be so boring!;-)

I have been staying away from sugar and salt, but i have failed so far in increaisng my water intake. I have tried, and i will keep trying, but my bladder is fighting me all the way. Which genius decided we need 64 oz a day anyway?!x(

keep up the good work ladies!

I use to live off Coke I would have between 5-8 a day I have tried quitting before even just cutting back and I couldn't stand the headaches and then I would go to a get together and blow it. Right after New Years I Quit cold turkey and I can honestly say I DID IT!!! I am Coca Cola Free I have even been to several get togethers since and I reach for water I think this was a Great shock to my body I also gave up eating (snacking) before bed I do not eat anything after dinner I workout and if I do feel famished I eat fruit.

So Good Luck with All your Resolutions.

Hey, Robyn:

I got my PMP certification last year. You're right; it's dry and the test was pretty difficult. If I can make a recommendation, try to take a prep class a few days before you take the test. I would never have passed otherwise.

Good luck!!!
Marie

Hi: Sparrow - good luck - sounds like once you are settled in it will be much easier to foc on this.

Nancy - Congrats. I didnt realize you were partner- that's grea. Yes so nice to be appreciated. I had a meeting today 5 VPS and little old me (I'm just a Program Manager) and this was in prep for tomorrow with the president and another SVP. I switched out of client facing role when I needed to focus on my son -but I'll take a client focus any day.

Jess - that's great on the volunteering. How is it going? I'm with you on the water - NOT easy!

Beth - congrats on the soda!

Marie - Thanks yes it is so dry. I just signed up for a date to take it. Hopefully this will motivate me. I took a week long class in Nov. I should see if the have shorter than a week classes.

Good work everyone!
