Anyone certified with YogaFit ?

Any yoga instructors or about-to-be yoga instructors familiar with the YogaFit certification?

Here's the deal: I'm researching (I think I'm always researching) yoga certifications, and I am definitely a beginner. I typically do my own yoga, read Yoga Journal, and take some classes at my gym (and my gym prohibits chanting, headstands, etc. etc., so more along the lines of a "YogaFit" practice). And, there are plenty of yoga studios around town with more intense practices, but they also require a more intense stack of dollar bills, which I'm trying to avoid at the moment! So, definitely beginner, but I want to start learning more.

I wonder if the YogaFit certification would be a good starter certification. Your thoughts?

Hi Caroline:) I think that YogaFit would be a wonderful place to start. Until recently I was teaching yoga in a gym setting and YogaFit was one of the standard certifications offered and recognized by this large Canadian chain (GoodLife Fitness). YogaFit was 'pooh-poohed' by the yoga community when it arrived here 8 or more years ago but that has changed a lot in recent years. My certification was through LesMills International but I've now gone on to teaching outside of the gym and established my own student base. The stepping stone of having one of the standard certifications was a perfect launch pad for me to get out into the community and teach my own blend of yoga which is a mix of ashtanga, kundalini and sivananda. Good luck!!!!

I'm off to check out your blog now:)

Take Care
Laurie:)
