CSA.....Community Supported Agriculture

Does anybody participate (or buy into, or whatever term is appropriate) in one of these programs?

I'm EXCITED! After my home garden flopped for the very first time last Summer, I decided I would give a CSA a try if I got off the mailing list and onto their customer list. Well, I just received an email from a local farm and I SIGNED UP!!! I'm pumped! I bought a 1/2 share, which is enough veggies for a couple. It lasts approximately 20 weeks (in 'full basket mode' that is), and they harvest about 30 different kinds of veggies. She told me that my first 'small' basket can be expected about mid-February, and will last till about November!!!!!!! As far as I'm concerned, that's MUCH longer than the 20 weeks! :)

HOW EXCITING IS THAT??? I'm super excited to be doing something to contribute to the growth and survival of farms in my area!!!!!

Gayle,

I did my first CSA over the summer and it was a great experience! I think it is a fabulous idea, a great way to support local farmers, and the produce is wonderful! I loved trying new vegetables I had never even seen before (Swiss chard, kohlrabi, to name a few).

I'm sure you and your boys will love your CSA. Have fun experimenting. :)
