I'm intrigued by this little robotic vacuum. Does anyone have one? If so, what are your opinions on its sturdiness, performance, battery life, etc. TIA!!
LOL!! Your husband does floors?!?! Hmmmm...somehow I must have missed that feature on the model I got . I wonder if there's a firmware upgrade available...for the vacuuming part, I mean }( .
Welllllll...this is going to be an interesting thread.
Gayle...my 13 year old son wants one of these desparately...guess what his job is? I'll be interested to hear some feedback so this is basically an elaborative bump.
Hi Gayle,
My DH (who loves gadgets!) went out and bought one just before Xmas because we were having trouble with our central vac. IMHO I think it is a waste of money. It moves in a circular motion which you set based on room size. When it bumps into something, it will veer off in another direction and may not make it back to the initial location leaving areas uncleaned. You have to pick up any rugs with fringe and be careful of any electical cords that run on the floor as they can get caught in the vacuum. The suction is nowhere near what you have with an "real" vacuum...we have a dog who sheds and it doesn't get up all the hair. Battery life for me is about 1-2 rooms because you have to let it run a long time in order to "hopefully" reach every area in the room. The appeal was that you could vacuum while doing something else in another room BUT if you don't watch it then you don't really know if the entire floor has been reached. So if I have to stand there and watch it I might as well use my upright vacuum...at least I know the carpet is competely cleaned. That being said, it is OK for those times when you might want to do a quick job but not for a major clean. I did see that there is a new model out that has a remote which will help with getting those areas that it has missed but I think it was $50 more.

Alas, it looks like my Jane Jetson fanatasy where my little robot vacuum keeps my floors spotless, while I'm doing my Cathe tapes in the gym is still somewhat out of reach. Maybe updated models will be worth money and we'll actually have some technology that works for us.
