Is there a website (free, hopefully) where you can input recipes with measurements, etc and it will calculate the nutritional information...like calories, carbs, protein, fat, etc????

Gayle

I think allrecipes.com does this when you add a recipe to their database. And it's free. :)

I have software on my computer that calculates everything, but, alas, it's not free. ;)

www.recipezaar.com usually lists the nutrient information. Check that one out and see if they offer it. You mught have to become a member first.

Maybe check it out and let us know!!

Update: I joined and it takes a day or so for your recipe to sppear, but it will then have nutrition information. This would be a long process, I am afraid, but it is one way to get the information! Not sure if it would be worth the effort, though!

Emily, I'd be willing to cough up some cash for software that did what I wanted.

Say I had my Super Duper PMS Support Peanut Butter Squares recipe in my hot little hand.

Could I input the ingredients as they are and then have the program calculate the nutrition down to a reasonable size serving?

If so, would you share what you've got?

Thanks!

Sorry to hijack!

I've checked out allrecipes.com before. But they will only post your recipe during 'seasonal times' and that's IF IF IF they accept it. From what I read on their website, it could be a while for an 'acceptable, unique' recipe to post there with nutritional info.

I may check out recipezaar.com now. If it's only a day until it's posted, I'd be willing to wait that day. It's worth it, since I have a TON of recipes I'd like nutritional info on.

I'll keep you all posted!

Yes, the software does this. You input the ingredients for your recipe, and input the number of servings in your recipe, and it spits out the nutritional information PER SERVING (not for the whole recipe). I actually bought this software for meal planning and grocery list organization, but the nutritional calculation was a nice added bonus! It's called Shop N Cook and I use it on my Mac, but there is also a PC version.

Shop N Cook Home and Pro will be able to calculate nutrition values. Shop N Cook Menu is just a menu planner, I think.

I've been using Shop N Cook Home for... gosh.... 5 years now? Love it! :)

Thanks Emily! I'll check that out!

In the meantime I tried the sparkpeople site and it works pretty well too!

Below is the breakdown for the PB squares. I chose 12 servings off the top of my head. So, you'd want to know how many servings for sure before you begin.

Thanks!
