I have a low thyroid and it took about 2 years to diagnose and it's taken another 2 years to get to the point where I am almost on the right dosage of medicince. I also started menopause during this time. I was so fatigued about 4 years ago that I could barely do 1-2 workouts a week so in the meantime I lost my muscle tone. Finally this year I have seen a difference in my fatigue and I am able to work out consistantly but now my skin on my legs are saggy! I'll be 53 this year so I know that's a process of aging but is there anything I can do about it??? I hate it!!! Any ideas??

Hi Brodyhat,

I do not have a solution for you. I just wanted to say that I feel your pain. I'm 44 and things just aren't as tight in some areas anymore. I worry. And, I see the changes happening in my body as time passes. In general for my skin - I try to brush it regularly and I juice everyday - 20 ounces - lettuce, kale, apples, lemons etc. I make a popular lemonade drink which is soooooo good even one of my daughters drinks it most days. You can find the recipe online. But for saggy or sagging skin - I'll be watching for other cathlete responses. I'd love to know too.

I had read that some people have success with the creams for facial wrinkles. I don't know if that actually works.

Me, I just try to run as fast as possible in the hopes that the skin won't be able to keep up. So, far, it hasn't worked. :p

Brodyhat ~ I'm age 52-1/2 and I feel your pain. :( Despite my consistent workouts over the past 30 years, I have ALWAYS had to contend w/cellulite , and since my late 30s/early 40s.... the saggy skin of which you speak. Some of us just have a genetic predisposition to these unsightly body flaws. Deep down, I think it's these flaws that have given me the drive to exercise regularly, as I don't have a work out buddy and my husband doesn't exercise. I have a small frame and have never been overweight. I even went so far as to have a mini abdominoplasty and thigh & butt lift done (all at the same time  .... it was 6 total hrs of surgery) about 10 years ago. My cosmetic surgeon has told me on many occasions that there is nothing you can do about skin laxity. I hate it just as much as you. I haven't worn a bathing suit or a pair of shorts in 10 years. I continue to work out as hard and as strong as I'm physically able, b/c I think it helps to alleviate some of my anxiety about it. People are surprised when they find out my age and they tell me how great I look. Clothes are a great cover for my flaws. ;) My only advice to you is workout consistently and eat healthfully. Don't waste your money on cellulite creams and the like b/c they do not work. Hope it makes you feel a little better to know you're not alone! Best wishes to you...

Plastic surgery is the only way to get rid of it. You should talk to a board certified plastic surgeon.

You sound exactly like me! I wear clothes to hide my flaws too! Thanks for replying. I know the only way to tighten it is to get surgery but that is not for me! Have a great day!
