Any Suggestions?

I received my free credit for Itrain and can pick a workout. I have never used Itrain or Cardio Coach or anything like it. I would like to get one to use while on my treadmill. Do you have any suggestions on what is good?

Thanks

Hi Debbie,

There have been a bunch of threads in the past where folks have posted their favorites.

If you do a subject search on itread in the Open Forum, you should get a bunch of good threads.

Oh my Debbie. That is a tough question. I have yet to meet an iTread that I dont like.

You get to pick whether to work at walker/jogger/runner settings with most of the "straight" itreads coached by Grace - the ones that are 100% treadmill based. She gives speed and incline settings as guidelines, that she changes every few minutes, for all three levels.

The short 20 min and 30 min iTreads pack a punch with an intense, short interval training workout. I like to do them as an add on after weight training.

The 60 min iTreads pace out the intense bursts with some steady state in between. They are excellent for building endurance and for long, challenging cardio. At walker settings or by combining walk/jog settings you could stay in your aerobic zone throughout if you are looking for a fat-burn focus.

Use the descriptions to pick ones that are more sprint focused (flat and fast for intensity segments) versus hilly (incline work for intensity segments) based on your preference.

There are a couple of outdoor iTreads. I tried one and did not like it as much as the treadmill ones.

Some itReads are circuits that combine 5 min or so treadmill walk/jog/run with intervals of resistance training. I love them. When I absolutely dont want to exercise these will get me to the gym. There are two iTread Ballets which are my favorites in this format. You pretend the treadmill rail is the barre for leg conditioning intervals. I did not much like the iTread Circuit surprise one, as-is. Some of the sculpting exercises off the treadmill are "toning style" stuff done with light dumbbells, and I like my resistance training to be functional or more gym-style. So I modify a few of the exercises. I have heard good reviews of iTread Circuit Ski but I have not tried it. It has lower body conditioning segments between the treadmill segments. Itread n Tush too is on the same format with intervals of glute focused exercises in between tradmill walk/jog/runs. Pretty neat on leg day if you want to squeeze some more juice out of your training after the weight work!

Nick has coached one iTread. It is Set 25 I think. In has 2 run intervals of 4 min each, 2 walk intervals at an inline of 8% each, and one side stepping interval (you turn sideways and step-hop, step-hop....on a slow moving tradmill.) These are spread with 1 min recoveries in between. Nick does not give you speed guidelines, you pick the setting to use. This is one of my favorite. I can never believe I've worked out for 30+ min when I am done because time flies.

Sorry...that was such a long answer.

Vrinda,

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I really appreciate it.

I am not sure if I want a 30-minute or 60-minute workout. I will think a little while longer on this. I usually jump on the treadmill after a 30-minute strength training but I also like to have straight cardio days. I have narrowed it down so far based on the description to one of the two below. I still have not listened to the demo yet, as I can’t do that here at work. Can you imagine the looks I would get.. lol

iTREAD Set24 Run Intervals 60Min or
iTREAD Set26 30Min

I think I am leaning toward the Set24 – 60 min.

Has anybody tried these two?

Thanks again!!!
