Any suggestions for the choreo challenged?

I want to enjoy Cathe's new step workouts, but I'm having a lot of trouble with her choreography and rapid-fire cueing, especially in HIS. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me figure these 2 workouts out? Thanks!

Hi FitNancy!
I just posted to somebody in the Ask Cathe Forum (I hated doing that knowing it's for Cathe to answer). Anyway, I have trouble too! And "finally" "finally" I'm catching on to some moves in HIS. There's one segment where she steps up on the step, kick's front and to the side, does a mambo back.........BLOWS MY MIND!!! So when she turned I stayed facing the tv and it was like I was working behind her. That has helped me with this workout more than anything. And, oh - the part where she does the over, jumps on the step with both feet, down the board in a squat like position...I think it's the very last blast, I get dizzy trying to figure that one out, so right now, I'm just doing whatever I can. I WILL GET IT!!!!! I WILL!!!! I know the benefits will far outway me getting too frustrated:eek:

Hope it helps a bit! Have fun and try not to get too discouraged, it will come.

You can try her earlier workouts, they're a little less complex. If you want to keep the intensity high go for Maximum Intensity Cardio (MIS--I think it's on the Rhythmic Step + DVD but DO NOT try RS first LOL). Serious workout with very basic choreography. Also you can try The Classics Vol. 1 (could never figure out this title b/c there is no Vol. 2 :+ ) and Cardio Hits. I think Cardio Hits has the oldest, most basic stuff. Both of the last 2 have 3 cardio workouts each so are well worth the money, & will keep you busy for some time!

Good luck! :)

Someone here suggested to me to keep practicing a segment at a time - but as add-ons to your regular workout. So that way you're not feeling frustrated about the moves AND the fact that you missed or cheated a workout.

Run through the steps without a step, or only one platform, using the rewind button repeatedly. Once you get it, you'll have so much fun! Really, you will get it.

Great idea!

I've been doing okay with LowMax, LIC, BM2 and several others. It's just this new set that seems intimidating. I don't think slow-mo works too well on my player, but I'll try it. I think one of the biggest things for me is to not let myself get frustrated - once I'm frustrated my brain seems to lock up. I like the idea of practicing one segment as an add-on to other cardio, because I hate to waste a cardio session staring at the TV and rewinding constantly. Thanks for your help!

I too have been having trouble, especially with the later segments. My mind is too fried by the time I get to Cardio #3 to learn anything new. So this morning, I just started with #3 and did it over and over. It finally started to get easier.

I have been doing it without any risers. I fell off my step trying to learn some moves and sprained my ankle so now I am VERY cautious.
I'm starting to get LIS but still a mess on HIS.
