Any Classical Stretch Fans Out There?

I discovered Miranda Esmonde-White's Classical Stretch a couple of months ago and I have to say, I LOVE it. I bought the Season 4 PBS series on DVD and I do 1 or 2 segments every week. It's made a big difference in my flexibility and posture, and my neck, back, and hips feel so much better (I have some arthritis in these areas).

I came across an interesting article about Miranda that some of you might find interesting. http://www.cookinglight.com/cooking/hl/fitness/article/0,13803,492558,00.html

I am a huge fan of Miranda's Classical Stretch. I do it everyday whether I do anything else or not. I love the way it elongates your muscles. While I do lift heavy weights and have for years, it has only been since I started CS that friends have noticed the definition especially in my arms. These stretches are different from stretching as we know it. That is why it works so well. A heads up: Miranda is releasing a new DVD on Thursday of this week! It is called Eccentric training...for Upper Body and Abs and Lower Body and Abs. :) :9

I have Classical Stretch, and I have used it occasionally. The stretches were (just) OK. Her plug for a certain brand of cosmetics annoyed me.

Swayzepetsitting and Wanda, I agree with your assessments of Classical Stretch. I love the PBS series DVD because the workouts are under 30 minutes and can easily be tacked on after another workout. My back and hips feel so much better since I've been using this technique!

Judy, I don't know anything about her endorsements and I don't think I'd care one way or another about it. I've placed orders directly from her website and I've never received any kind of sales pitches or junk emails from her. The only advertising on the DVD I have is for the resort where the series was filmed. Are there ads for cosmetics on her other DVD's? Again, I don't think I would care about that unless it was in the middle of the workout or something -- lol!

Prior to doing CS, I was going to the chiropractor 2-3 times a week for the past year. After doing CS faithfully every day for 2 months, I found I only had to go 1x a month for awhile. It has now been 2 months since my last visit. After hearing Miranda talk about fascia, during my last visit to the chiropractor I just said: "The pain I'm having is fascia pain isn't it?" My chiropractor said yes it is....
So...with my CS education, I can rid that kind of pain myself. These DVDs have more than paid for themselves in my case. Otherwise, I would still be a frequent patient. I may as well have the money, I figure. :)
I have to stress that it was regular use....not just on occasion that helped me. If one only does it occasionally, then it isn't going to produce the required results. Same as if one only did aerobics or weights on occasion. I treat CS as Physical therapy. By doing so...it works as we both know.

I too love the TV series and I take it on to workouts just like you. Did you know that Miranda only does CS everyday and then walks on treadmill 1x a week. She is in marvelous shape, I think. :)

Michele-
It was during the stretch routine on the DVD I bought. I found it to be distracting. But I do agree her stretching is helpful if done consistently. The length of the DVD I have prevents me from doing it regularly. (too long for my attention span)

I am, although I haven't done them for a while. I usually start doing them and then can't stop....but lately I've been doing Namaste Yoga in the evenings. My 2 favorite wind-down activities are Classical Stretch and Namaste Yoga. I find them to be very relaxing and Miranda seems to be able to target my abs and thighs in the toning segments like others rarely can...........and it's all about her instruction and subtle nuances and different spins she puts on things.......and she's a HOOT. I crack up when she's instructing and a bird flies by and she stops instructing and makes a comment about the bird. Gotta love her!!! I guess she's not for everyone, but I've always adored the eccentric types and she definitely is in a class of her own. I own almost every single Classical STretch....so I'll have to check out the new one this week.

Wanda, you should tell Miranda about your results. That's really amazing! I believe it, too. We tend to be so hard on our bodies and do very little to correct the damage until things have spiraled out of control. I've had a persistent pain in my left hip for years that has been almost entirely relieved since I started this program. Which DVD's do you have? I only have the PBS series but I'm planning to get the Full Body Workout and Athletes Intense Stretch and Back Pain Relief DVD's.

Lora -- yes, I get a real charge out of her! She has some very cute and tender mannerisms. She says the funniest things sometimes, like once she said she was in a gym watching people people as they stretched after a workout and that she "had a cow" -- LMAO!!

ETA Judy, I guess that would be annoying to have her comment about cosmetics during a workout. I haven't come across anything like that in the PBS series. I've had such good results with her workouts that, at this point, I could probably forgive her ;)

Michele - the Intense Athletic Stretch and Back Pain ones are very good. I have both. The Express Series is also good for those with upper back and neck problems. I have neck, upper back and low back issues....so I love them all. I need to start doing mine again.....but I just got on this Namaste kick.
