Antivirus Question...

It's time for me to update my antivirus. I've always used good old Norton AntiVirus but it's been suggested to me that I download free protection from AVG.com. I'm a bit skeptical about the quality of protection with a free download and thought I'd ask all y'all if you have any thoughts, input or experience with AVG before I drop the $45.00 for Norton. TIA Any other suggestions are most welcome.

I am not very computer savvy so don't be gettin' too technical with me;-)

Hi Laurie...I used Norton awhile ago but it seemed like a resource hog making my PC lag. Then I tried McAfee and had the same trouble after an upgrade everything slowed down. I am now using the free version of AVG and love it. I heard about it from this site, http://forums.techguy.org/ and they are great with any PC problems...

Sorry, Laurie - I haven't heard of AVG. I use the virus protection that comes with my internet service plus ad-aware, spybot, etc.
