Another walking lunges question...

I'm on my second week of Cathe's Aug '04 rotation and walking lunges day is approaching. I've never done 200 walking lunges before and I have a question. What weight am I supposed to use? I'm thinking it can't be too heavy because there's no way I'm going to complete 200 reps. I thought a pair of 8lbs might work, but I don't know because this would be my first time attempting this. I need help. Thanks in advance.

If this is your first time doing them, you might try doing them with no weight and see how it feels. If you're doing them slow and focused enough, you may be surprised at the burn you get with that.

Wow! without weights? That makes sense! I was "rehearsing" yesterday looking for a space around the house to do the walking lunges. I have to say that I was starting to feel those lunges pretty quick and I wasn't using any weight.

Thank you for the replies.

O.k., you all are making me question whether 15lb dumbbells would be too much up a mountain? Hmmm. Maybe I should go with 10's. I don't want to go too light as I want to really feel a burn. LOL

I got the new Oxygen Butt Book and it suggest doing the 200 walking lunges (not up a mountain). LOL! Anyhoo, you should see the butts in that book...you'll want to do them too! It just really motivated me after reading that book. You can get it at Wal Mart in the magazine section.

Rose,

If these are new to you, no weights would be better to start with. Then the next time add 3 lbs, then 5 lbs and so on. When I use 10's, I always rest 30 seconds between sets of 30. This helps me with my form cause my legs get tired and I start looking like a drunk sailor ;) .
