Last time I posted about our cute & furry little fella, Skippy, it was because he was jumping up on us & we couldn't seem to break him of that habit. Well, thanks to the advice I got here (turn sharply & quickly, say "OFF" instead of "down", & also ignore him until he calms down), he's doing much better. He still forgets at times but he's doing much better than before. Now we have a new problem. Well, it's not really new because he's been doing it ever since we stopped crating him almost a year ago but it's definitely a problem we need to address & correct... as quickly as possible. He wakes us up in the middle of the night & sometimes he doesn't even go out. Of course, it's fine if he needs to do some business but this morning, for instance, he woke us up at 4:30 & wouldn't even go outside. He hasn't had an accident in the house since we first started leaving him out of his crate... & he can easily make it for the entire day while we're at work if my DH can't get home (although he usually visits the house several times a day unless his schedule won't permit for some unusual reason). Last night, we went to bed around 10:00 so it had only been about 6 1/2 hours but like I said, he didn't even go out when my DH got up (which upset him, for obvious reasons). So... any advice? Sometimes he DOES need to go out so I was thinking about changing his eating schedule but the times that he wakes us up for no apparent reason has me totally baffled. He also doesn't usually do it over the weekends so does that mean he just needs extra attention & companionship? Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated! We would love to get some sleep during the week...
