Well, there is no good news to report. Greyor has extensive brain damage. The left half of his brain is pretty much not there and the right side has damage. The doctors suspect there was more going on then the CMV infection alone, but they made it very, very clear that it was not due to anything Emily did or did not do.
Greyor will have cerebral palsy, but they can't predict to what extent. He will probably have some motor difficulties. Again, there are no predictions. He may walk, he may not. He will probably have cognitive disabilities. He may have learning disabilities, he may be retarded. He will be prone to seizures. And he may just die at anytime.
We will decide whether or not to continue to chemotherapy sometime soon. It is not proven to work and may cause more harm than good. They have already stopped two doses because his white blood count is too low. DH and I both want it stopped, but it is DD's decision to make.
Tomarrow he will be tested to see if he is swallowing properly. If not, we may have to decide on whether or not to have a feeding tube inserted.
We will have a primary care pediatrician at the hospital Greyor is at now. There will be a whole team of specialists at the same hospital. He will begin early intervention including physical therapy soon.
Thanks all for your prayers and support. Please keep us in your prayers.
