Am I just wasting my time?

AS i have said in other posts I'm on my 3rd week of the August bootcamp rotation and up until Halloween was doing real well. Halloween I ate quite a bit of candy, Tues. about 6 bars, wed.2 bars and today again maybe 10 bars. Its not like me to do this. Unfortunetly I have to keep the candy here because of my boys. I am PMS (but please). Am I just totally ruining all my hard work on this rotation? HELP! Lori BC

Hi Lori! Halloween is over!! LOL Really throw out the candy your boys don't need it unless you want to spend $$ at the dentist. Usually when I have a "sweet" craving I make myself a large salad. Because of all the fiber contained in the veggies you'd be surprised just how fast those sweet cravings dissipate. Also that bootcamp rotation is a whopper so you're going to need to increase your protein. HTH, Kathy:D

You don't need to keep your kitchen stocked with crap for your boys!!! You'd be doing the whole family a huge justice by cleaning up your kitchen! They need something sweet? Keep fruit and fruity snacks around. Let them complain...besides, you're the boss.

When my kids ask me for chocolate or *junk* I laugh so hard and say to them "You must think you live somewhere else!" (They usually ask after visiting family or a B-Day party where they have access) They get over it immediately.

Oh, and Lori, you are NOT wasting your time. Wipe the chocolate off your face, throw the candy and wrappers away and start fresh NOW!!!

Winners never quit regardless of obstacles. Losers never stand up to the obstacles, they give in and proclaim the effort useless. Yes, you got off track...there is NO REASON to stay off track! Unless you want to gain back weight and become one of those people who cannot stand to see their own reflection.

Everyone here...we all fall off our wagons but we all get back on, too! We will fall off our wagons again...and then climb back on! We can't be perfect every day until death.

thats true my kids dont need the sweets either,I just didnt think that I should get rid of it because I'm having trouble with it. The worst part is I didnt even enjoy eating it. I think I'm just feeling under the weather, I need to perk up because its body max day on my rotation. Wish me luck! Lori Bc

Hi There,
I know its hard to throw out your kids candy b/c they are kids and I would have been VERY upset if my mom threw out MY candy b/c she couldn't stop eating it.So no, I don't think you should throw it out b/c its more about you gaining self control, then the actual candy being in the house. We are not always going to have things in our houses that tempt us BUT we will be at functions and with the holidays comming, lots of gatherings and lots of food.If you can control your cravings then you will just be better off in general.
Where do they keep their candy? My DD keeps hers in her room and I don't bother with it b/c I don't see it.I don't mind keeping it in her room b/c she doesn't eat much of it.I think she may have had one bar today and in a months time, I will end up throwing it out.I also have a extra box of bars on my coffee table that I can walk pass b/c there really isn't anything in there I love. Thank God!
I think you sort of need to tuck it away, where you don't really see it everytime you open the cupboard or the fridge. And if it makes you feel any better, work out a little harder.Or tell yourself you can have one bar after dinner for your dessert, that should hold you out.
Good Luck!
Lori:)

Admitted chocoholic here. Yesterday, after what seems like weeks of eating so much Halloween crap, I finally hit my limit and made myself feel sick. Today-cold turkey. Even the thought of it still turns my stomach. Hope it lasts!

I don't buy junk for my kids, but for special holidays, which for kids, Halloween is, I let them have it. I'm trying to teach them to make good choices on their own. After dinner they are allowed to have some candy. When it comes time for a bedtime snack, they only want fruit. And at 3 and 5 they are huge vegetable eaters. My 5 year old eats her tossed salad before anything else at dinner and doesn't usually want any form of dressing on it. I can't even do that!

I agree totally. Don't throw it out because you can't handle it...that's unfair. You have to gain control...you're letting the candy win. I know it's not healthy for the kids, but Halloween is also part of a childs life to experience and enjoy for those few years. You've already been down that road, now it's their turn.

My kids get sick of it within a week or two and then it's all over...until the next holiday (which seems never ending until after Easter). Seriously, we just threw out (have every year) candy from last Halloween and the other past holidays. My kids don't get an all you can eat fest either. It's only 2 or 3 small pieces. My daughters batch has already been taken away because she has been pushing meals aside. A few pieces add a lot of extra calories for a child, even for an adult.

The best way for me to aviod it is not to even take the first bite. I'm a all or nothing type of person.
