Cathlete
Hey all you Catheites out there... someone has to have an answer for this one. I searched the archives but didn't see anything that would help...

I did BootCamp last night and must admit, it wasn't my favorite workout so far! I did OK for most of the workout but had a hard time with all the cardio segments. I just can't do the high impact/high intensity jumping jacks, mountain climbers, explosions from lunges, etc...

Does anyone have any good replacements that would get my heart rate up along with the rest of the group, just not the killer results on my knees???

and planks? OMG! will have to practice those... I was a shakey little plankton!

TIA,

I just did this workout Wednesday:D. I try to do as many plyo moves as possible.
In places where the impact is just too much, I continue doing regular jumping jacks or do that zig zag skip rope move. Those two moves keep my heart rate up when I just can't jump as high as Cathe:D

I rarely do regular jumping jacks, zigzag jumps or rope jumping because they all hurt my knees.

Other non-impact but hi intensity moves that I do instead include: low side to side lunges, squats with alternating left/right front kicks; front/back kicks, crescent kicks, squats to side or roundhouse kicks, back lunges to front kicks, squats with alternating side leg lifts; quick step ups/downs on a 12" step (like in the warm up of the original BBC legs), squats with alternating knees lifts and front jab punches, and fast alternating rear lunges with fingertips tapping the floor. HTH!

It ABSOLUTELY does!! thank you Jonahnah for all the ideas... I must admit, I didn't think of any of these! oops!

some of them I will have to figure out what the heck they are, but will at least feel a bit better about having SOMETHING to do while Cathe & Co. are reaching for the sky! :D

Hi Dani,
Please feel free to PM me with any moves that you're unclear on. We "troubled knee" folks have to stick together! :D Take care--

Dani I looked for a thread I remember but couldn't find it. I know Kathryn has loads of knee friendly modifications she does but I can't find the thread under "low impact", fyi. I think it was in the DVD forum; you might find some ideas if you read some of the search results. I know many folks need to be creative with some of the plyo moves! ;)

Thanks Amy.. I'll see what I can find under that search :) and PM Kathryn if I still need some other options.
