So I keep reading about almond butter and all the different variations so ... what do you love? recommend? how do you prefer to eat it? Is it really healthy?
My market has a nut butter machine and I put the nuts in there and it comes out as butter. We usually do (non gmo) peanut or hazelnuts, although I really like almond butter as well. Almonds here though can get a but costly. Same with macadamia which I love too! I mostly just use it as I would any spread. It's nice spread on cucumber slices. In scone recipes and such too.
I think many nuts are calorie dense. I don't count calories & I do not know the specifics of almonds. They may be less calorie dense than some other nuts. Nuts are packed full of nutrition!!!!
I use it just like I use peanut butter. I get organic almond butter from Costco. It's great spread on a banana, with a few dark chocolate chips. Fulfilling a chocolate craving. Yea, I know.
Awe this thread makes me wish I could have any kind of nut butter in my house but it's a huge trigger food for me and i could eat a whole jar at once! I have to use PB2 in place of it so i don't inhale 1000 calories in one sitting lol! But it does come in a peanut/ chocolate mix...

Hi Elsie, I think if the PB2 is added into a recipe it would be fine, it's just not that great when mixed alone with water as a spread - when i have a craving i'll add it to greek yogurt just to get the flavor. Not chaulky texture though,
