Aesthetician tipping question

Usually I get facials at a salon, so naturally I leave a tip. Tomorrow I'm getting my botox so I figured I'd get a facial with the dr.'s office aesthetician.

So do you tip an aesthetician in a dr. office? Is it considered different than a salon service? Since I'm already paying so much for the botox it seems kind of crazy to have to leave a tip too.

I don't know, but do you do before and after photos??? I've been trying to talk myself out of botox but I'm probably going to take the plunge next year....

Hey Laura, I work in both a clinical and spa environment as a registered massage therapist. I get tips all of the time at the spa (nice bonus!) but never get them at the clinic and it makes perfect sense to me. I wouldn't tip my dentist or chiro or any other medical professional for that matter. People seeking my service in a more sterile, medical environment are look for something different from those having massage in the luxurious setting of a spa. Enjoy your facial you lucky Girl, they're heavenly!!

Oh thanks so much Laurie, I was definitely in a quandary over this. Yeah I love the facials, I always feel so relaxed & pretty after.

Marie, why would you talk yourself out of botox? Other than the cost of course.......it's not at all dangerous the way some people think. There isn't enough poison in there to kill a flea.

I've been doing it for 5 years now & I don't even consider it a luxury anymore--it's now a necessity for me. I just get between my eyes & around my lips (ex-smoker's lines x( ). I only want the frown lines gone--I actually like the smile lines around my mouth & eyes. It looks totally natural & no one knows, not that I try to keep it secret or anything.

I have seen people overdo it--my dr. does her whole face & she looks like she's wearing a Hollywood horror mask. But if it's used judiciously it not only makes you look beautiful, it makes you feel beautiful too (which is of course the strongest argument to go for it).
