Hi all, I am 35 and would like to lose 50lbs.. I currently am in the 170's but would like to be in the 120's. I tape Cathe off of fittv. I like to do her circuit workouts more then strength train. I just ordered hardcore extreme and have rhytmic step. I have 5,10 and 15lb bells and a stability ball, fannylifter and step. I have copied four of her fat loss rotations to keep me busy for several weeks.

My questions are: Will I get results by doing circuits? Tone muscles, better metabolism, loss of weight, etc. Or should I focus on strength training. My fave video for that is Power Hour is this effective?

2. What other words of wisdom do you ladies have?

I know diet plays a major part and I struggle with that daily.

Thanks all.

One great piece of advice is mix it all up! Continuing to shock your body is what delivers the best results in the long run. To answer your questions about circuits, yes indeed, it can improve all those things immensely!

Live with sincerity, love with passion, and dance like you mean it.

I agree with Debbie. Circuit workouts will do wonders for your metabolism, if you eat right too, of course. Mix it all up like Debbie says.

It's great to keep your body guessing. So if you do a 4 week rotation primarily with circuits choose a rotation for the next 4 weeks that has cardio combined with a upper body focus. Or, some other combination that appeals to you maybe, biking mixed with Cathe. Often, people hit "plateaus" while losing weight (I certainly have). I've heard it explained that your body gets used to your routine and kind of adapts to it, and holds onto the fat as hard as it can. So, by changing things it can be a new shock to your body and get things moving. How are you addressing your food stuff?

Yes, you will see results with circuits. You should keep a nice mix of cardio and strength training into your routine and there are tons of variations. Do the circuits for a few weeks, then mix it up...that should give you plenty of time to put together a few new rotations once you complete the circuits.

As for diet...it's 82% of the equation. Grab whole foods as much as possible. Make gradual changes, no one like to be thrown in a pool! Ease into it making small changes so that it doesn't feel like you are turning your whole world up side down. Aim for 4-6 small meals spread out throughout the day and NEVER skip breakfast!

It's the journey, not the destination!! Enjoy the learning process, it makes life a wonderful thing!

We are always here...always will be!!!

Thank you for all of the advice. I will keep working on the fat loss rotations. I also never skip breakfast. I have a coffee and something else. I try to eat when I'm hungry and not follow a set schedule because I will eat to much. I am trying to follow the rule of one meal at a time and try to make them wholesome. Afternoon snack and dinner are usually my downfalls as also do not care for fruit.

And I will definetly keep mixing up my workouts.

Thanks again.
