Advice from you fit mom experts!

Have just found out that I'm pregnant again after a miscarriage last year & am after some advice & reassurance! Last time I pretty much kept up my usual fitness routine though sticking to slightly easier Cathe stuff like the wedding video. This time I'm a bit apprehensive. Do you guys keep all high impact moves in during early pregnancy eg ricochets, jumping from ground to step with both feet and also in KPC and KM (which I love!) do you carry on doing all the high impact stuff ie like the plyo jumps & jacks in KM? Is it safe to carry on doing interval training like Imax 2. Also can you advise me on body temperature. I don't get too puffed but I sweat a lot and get quite warm (pink cheeks after Imax 2!!). Last question (!) - are there any no-nos for weight training (apart from lying on your back after 12wks)? Sorry for long post but would be grateful for your expert advice!

Congrats Emma on your pregnancy! Yeah!! Once you have your drs approval, you should be able to continue w/your regular exercises and listen to your body. The most important advice I can give is to listen to your body, do not become anaerobic (do talk tests during your aerobic workouts), and log onto weekly pregnancy forums so you can get support from other pregnant moms.
Good luck!!

Congrats Emma! We are all so excited for you! I can tell you I personally had a very hard pregnancy with my daughter and had to completely lay off exercise for 7 months while I was preggo. She was my little miracle baby and yes it was really hard to not work out and I got bummed out a lot..but then I had my daughter and life has never been better! I agree with Melanie, talk to your doctor and talk often. If your doctor says to go easy consider some of the preggo workouts out there or simply walk. And, like Melanie said listen to your body. If you can't exercise for fear of miscarriage or premature birth, it's not a big deal. The nine months go by so quick and as long as you eat good (yes I ate cookies all the time and only gained 27 lbs) after the baby is born and your doctor allows you to hop right back into it the weight will come off.

We all wish you the best of luck and keep us updated!

Hi and congrats! First check with your doctor if he/she considers you a high risk pregnancy if you get the go ahead just listen to your body. I did high impact including the imaxes during the first trimester of both my pregnancies. Do remember though that morning sickness may affect workouts as well as fatigue during the first trimester.

Thanks you for the advice ladies. I'm going to the Dr tomorrow (if I can get an appointment!)so I'll see what she says. I miscarried early and they said there was no reason (they said it was just one of those things)- so I'm hoping she'll give me the go ahead. I'm a 6 day a week exerciser so it would kill me not to do anything but as you've all said - better to be safe. Have any of you any info or advice on the body temperature thing?

Thanks again!

Emma
