acid reflux and weight lifting

i was just diagnosed with lpr, a form of acid reflux which affects your throat--- my doctor says that heavy weightlifting and crunches are to be avoided. anyone have any experience in this area?

also, have you have any natural solutions to this problem? doctor wants me to do 2 months of prilosec and nutritionist wants me to instead try digestive enzymes and probiotics.
