Abs Diet

Ok I bought the book and have read most of it. I really like the food approach that he takes. However I made one of his smoothies last night, it wasn't good.

Anyways, I guess my question is this: He claims that after 20 min of cardio you start to burn mucsle which in turn causes you not to loose weight. If this were true, why would most cardio workouts be for an hour?

Has anyone cut back on their cardio and seen better results? I love lifting weights and I know for me personally that when I got serious about lifting, my body seriously changed. But I am wondering if my cardio is being counterproductive...

I have read through most of the Abs Diet book. I love a couple of the smoothies - the chocolate/peanut butter one and the Strawberry Field Marshall. None of the others sounded good to me.

Not sure if the 30 minutes of cardio only is true, but thought I would point out the 4 day split has only about 30 minutes of cardio and then the weight work.

It really depends on what your goals are.

If you want to focus on building muscle/gaining real strength then anything beyond the occassional 60 minute cardio session probably WOULD be counter-productive.

If you want to lose weight and firm up then 60 min cardio sessions should not be a problem.

I get better results when I keep my cardio at 30 min., but I have to make it pretty intense. Short, intense cardio and heavy weights are key for me.
