? about Imax 3

I've had Imax 3 for awhile, but I've never done it. I have to confess the first time I previewed it I was really scared because some of the intervals looked painful in terms of impact. I don't have special flooring at home, not even carpet, just regular tiles, and I can't invest in mats or anything like that at the moment. I have a couple of questions:

1. Are there any of you in my situation that still do Imax 3 without modifications?

2. If you do modify some of the intervals because you prefer less impact, what do you do instead?

I've been previewing it because I want to try it in a couple of weeks. I'm doing a GS rotation and I'll add one of the shorter premixes as cardio once a week. I have no idea how this will work, but I wanted to know what you thought. By the way I'm 27 (28 in a couple of weeks) and I don't have any problems with my joints yet, but since I believe in taking care of myself now that my joints are healthy I try to be careful with high impact activities. I do them, but in moderation. Thank you all in advance for any replies.

I usually do IMAX3 on a 6 inch step instead of 8, which I use for most other step workouts. All that jumping on and off the bench scares me. I would suggest you start out with a lower step then you usually work out on.

Well, I do IMax 3 on my garage floor, which I'm sure is a no-no and I'm 42 so I'm an old fart. But I don't have any issues. I think the best advice for IMax 3 is do what you can, and modify or attempt to modify the rest. It's not as tough as it looks, but it IS tougher that IMax 2.

Thank you ladies for all your replies. Karin thanks for that link, it is great! The scariest interval is the one with the long jump (interval 4 I think). I've tried to do the long jump without watching the dvd and it's tough on my joints (I can do a couple but I know I'm going to end up modifying it at the end). I'm thinking doing maybe two shorter jumps instead of the long one and doing the rest of the interval as Cathe does it. I know I'm going to keep watching it a couple of times before I attempt it so I'll probably will have my own list of modifications just in case.

I did Imax3 a few times before geting rid of it (too many workouts I like better, and I'm no fan of what I feel is unnecessary impact, especially combined with some more turny choreo).

I modified several moves (the jacks on and off the step I did as straddles off the step with a jump onto the step, with a few slow jump off/jump ons thrown in. The long jump move I completely modified. I don't remember all of it--I posted it a while ago in a thread about IMAX3--but it started with me in the same position as Cathe, count 1 and 2: jump onto far end of step and hold, count 3: step down right; count 4: step down left--into a straddle;can't remember the rest...).

Christine,
I will now be working out in my basement...on a concrete floor. I did buy some matts from Dicks Sporting Goods. They are fairly firm foam puzzle squares so you can can add more to expand the space if you wish. I find that they do decrease the impact a bit and were fairly kind to my wallet (about $20 or so for four squares). They aren't fancy but they help.
