have any of you purchased one of these or used on in the gym? i have alot of neck trouble and every time i do an ab workout, i pay big time. i'm thinking (if it gets the catheite stamp of approval) that this thing might be perfect for me. TIA

Looks bogus to me, as do all specialized ab devices. They only do one thing, and are usually way overpriced, IMO. If you notice, they compare the "jackknife" (the most difficult and advanced move you can do on this glorified lounge chair) to regular crunches. So that may be the only challenging move.

For neck support, try putting a folded towel behind your neck or head and grabbing on to the ends. Cradle your head in the towel and be sure to pull up through your chest, letting your arms (which are "attached" to the towel) come along for the ride, rather than pulling with your arms. This can help quite a bit.

Also do a "look to the right...look to the left" neck stretch after every set of ab work, to help loosen the muscles in that area.

Do you have a Sports Authority anywhere near you? They sell them, and usually have them on display so you could try it out. I sat in one and gave it a try, but didn't do a whole bunch of reps on it. The movement is similar to those ab machines at the gym. I'm not sure if it's a gimmick or not. I think the folded towel idea would be a good suggestion before dropping 90 bucks.

My SO has one and it is junk! I wouldn't spend the money on this.

I also have this issue; terrible headaches after core work. I am going to try what Kathyrn suggested. Thanks, Kathyrn!

Hi Jes,

If I remember right you are in Texas right? Academy has them and had a display set up. When I tried it, I thought it would make a great clothes hanger but not much more :)

i tried one of these on display. didn't really do much for me. i'll stick with cathe's core max and my pilates. $90 is way to much for a "chair" anyway.

I don't know Jes, I have a really hard time with something that uses the words "ab" and "lounge" in the same sentence............;-)
