A wellness vacation/trip - ideas?

Fishing for ideas:

I won $1,000 toward a trip (flight/hotel) to almost anywhere I want to go from site59.com. I need to use it by the end of the year, and if you're familiar with site59, you know it's a last-minute planning tool, as in about a two-week scheduling window.

Most of my friends are out of personal days, and I would leave on a Thursday, come back on a Sunday. So, I'm thinking I'll probably do this one by myself. I'd love to take advantage of place where I can learn some business and personal ideas for wellness.

I'm in Atlanta, so I don't want to go to Charleston or Columbia if you know what I mean. I'm thinking NY or LA, possibly a Colorado destination. I suppose I'm looking for a place where I can pay for classes or training by the visit.

Still researching certification workshops b/c I might kill two birds with one stone if I could find something appealing in the yoga area, but if you know of a well-rounded and respected wellness center or not-too-intense yoga/wellness center in NY, LA, Denver area, let me know.

Here's the catch! -- I can't afford a spa. Or, at least not an all-day kind of thing. I'm thinking of taking a few classes or workshop. Maybe a personal training session...

Yes, it's a long-shot question, but if you've had a good experience somewhere, let me know!

Thanks,
Caroline

You might want to check out Omega or The Crossings. Omega is located within 2 hours of NYC in the Hudson River Valley, The Crossings is kinda a "sister" center in Texas. They offer all kinds of health, wellness, and personal enrichment classes, many of which are often taught by nationally/internationally known experts in their fields. You can get CEUs for many of the programs if you need them for your profession. website: eomega.org In the winter they offer classes in the Virgin Isles and Belize.

I've had acquantinances/yoga instructors attend the Kripula Center, a well-known yoga training program located in Boston ... some people become certified through them.

How exciting for you! Have a great time!

I don't know how much it costs, but how about the Cooper Institute in Dallas, Texas? I believe they have a web site.

Amy,

That does look interesting. I'm a little confused though: There's the registration fee, and then you have to pay extra for each workshop?

Since you went to the IDEA convention, it might be different from the "PT" weekend. There's definitely excellent information/workshops...I just got my AFAA certification, so I'd probably be interested in some biz classes and special population training...

Feel free to reply to this post or PM me if you have a chance to explain a little more about your convention experience.

Thanks!
:)

This probably doesn't fit your timeline...but others may be interested. It is not until next year!
