a.m. workouts

I know the a lot of people say that cardio first thing in the a.m. will produce the most fat loss, but for weight training in the a.m. would this not be catabolic for muscle tissue? I recently read an article that recommended having a portion of carbs and a portion of protein one hour prior to your workout so that you would have the energy and the building blocks to complete an intense workout and enhance muscle growth. What do you think?
