A Lovely Short Poem to Welcome Autumn

Cathlete
I just came across this and thought it was sweet:

October gave a party:
The leaves by hundreds came
The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet.
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.

Very sweet Sparrow...:)...I have been trying to keep up with the darn leaves though...Professor Wind is not helping!!!

This is my favorite season. Yesterday was our very first fall like day in Souch Carolina. I wish the fall weather lasted a lot longer than it does. I love when the leaves change color, the wind is blowing them around and the air is fresh, crisp, and cool.

Oh, how lovely!

I love seeing the leaves change. I'm not so fond of raking them, mind you. And I'm very thankful that this is not a crop year for my black walnut!

North Carolina is getting in on the cooler weather finally. It was 47 yesterday morning but back up to 61 today. We are suppose to have some warmer weather this weekend in the 80's until another cold front comes through Sunday, then back into those wonderful 70's.

I love this time of year also!

This is my favorite time of year too! This morning it is in the 30s, but will go into the 60s. I love pulling out my sweaters and leaf peeping (though carole is right, the raking's a bummer!!) and visiting the farmer's markets for apples and pumpkins.

Thank you Sparrow for sharing this poem.
My mom loves fall so I sent it to her . She wrote back asking Where did I find this poem? That she was in tears (happy) because it was also a song and her mother used to sing it to her over & over when she was little . Mom says she knows it by heart but had forgotten all about it until I sent it to her this morning!! She thanked me for reminding her of the beautiful memories of her mom singing that song.
:)

I'm so glad I sent it to her.
So thanks again for posting it. :)

I love this! Fall is my favorite season and I'm so excited about the colors, sweaters, the crunch of fallen leaves when you walk, the colorful gourds, the golden sun. Thanks for posting.

Becky, I'm so glad! Wow, that's awesome. The poem is by George Cooper, BTW.

:)

OK, now I'm boo-hooing!

I LOVE fall, particularly very forgiving sweaters and jeans! :)

However, I must say, it is freezing in my house. Due to natural gas prices, I refuse to turn the heat on until at least October, hoping to get to November. Last year I was paying nearly $600/month by the end of the winter. I'm hoping to avoid that for as long as possible this time around!

Happy raking,
Marie
