a good kickboxing workout

Hi there, just wanting opinions on which is more recommended, Kick Max or Kick, Punch & Crunch. I'm having a problem with my lower body getting bigger with the weighted lower body workouts, so I'm trying to slim them back down. Thought maybe the kickboxing might be a good try. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi

I've just ordered KPC so can't comment on that one but I personally didn't like Kick Max as I didn't think there was enough kickboxing cardio in there - didn't care for the leg drills at the end either (but then you can't please everyone all the time)!

Just my opinion - hope it helps,
Andrea

I can't comment on Kick Max or Kick, Punch & Crunch (although I'm dying to get that one!!). However, I recently purchased Powerstrike Millenium 3 and I LOVE it!!! I have heard that Powerstrike Millenium 1 & 2 are more intense (I've only been exercising for 3 weeks after being off for 6-7 months, so 3 certainly felt intense enough for me....I was huffing and puffing).

I also love Kick Box from the CTX series and Cardio Kicks (although Cardio Kicks has a lot of nonkickboxing moves which I don't really like). Powerstrike was all kickboxing and really worked me out well.

KPC is my favorite of the 2 but Kickmax does have those nice leg conditioning drills (without weight) that might help you. I am also a big Taebo fan, and have about 4 of Billy's DVD's. You can find them at Collage or maybe check Target and Walmart as they have some older ones on sale sometimes...:)...Carole

I agree about KPC too. I am also a big fan of Janis Saffell's kickbox workouts. She has some great workouts out there.

I agree, for the most part. The kickboxing segments on KM are too short, and have too many pivots to keep up the intensity, while the leg blasts are too high impact (and not really "kickboxing"). I haven't tried the leg drills because I got rid of this one ASAP.

On the other hand, I LOVE KPC! It's what I was hoping KM would be like: no "kickbox-flavored cardio," but a more authentic kickbox-move-filled workout.

I have both. I ADORE KPC... this is an awesome, killer workout. I do like KickMax, too, but like the other posters pointed out, it is not the same and definitely not as pure of a kickboxing workout. However, it is good for mixing things up, so if you can get them both, I would check them both out (you can always sell them on EBay). If I could only get one, I'd go for KPC.

Good luck!
Marie

A second vote here for Powerstrike. I have Millenium 1 & 2 and use them often. I wish they were available on DVD.

Cardio Kicks is my favorite kickboxing workout. Talking about another instructor I like the kickboxing strike zone and the hardcore kickbox circuit of Janis Saffell.

Actually, this makes me want to order KM more. One reason that I have been wavering on buying it is that I'm not super-crazy about kickboxing. I have such a hard time with side-kicks. I like the punching and front kicks though.

What are the leg blasts like?

Donna,
I actually really like KM b/c you have to concentrate in order to get winded during the combos, which means I focus on form and my knees feel better, even though there is a lot of pivoting and a lot of high impact in the blast challenge section (15 of my most favorite/unfavorite minutes ever!) This section will leave you tired, the leg conditioning drills at the end are priceless, no impact whatsoever and they will make you sweat and feel it the next day.
I still love KPC, but something about KM makes me feel "in control."
HTH,
Mattea
