The offerings in the area of Children's workouts leave much to be desired. No other instructor can match your style, expertise, and professionalism. It would be so wonderful if my children could have the same fun and quality experience that I get every day.

Please consider the suggestion--it would be FABULOUS!

here here, I would love to get my son involved in fitness,

sidenote: DH was doing one of the Ab Hits workouts and DS (2 1/2 yrs old) was "doing" it right next to him - see you do have an audience!

Yes, please! Because I workout regularly my children at one point or another have always tried to join me but it's way too frustrating for them...and who really wants to be showed up by your mother anyways? Kick, Punch & Crunch for kids would be great especially if it had lots of beginner helps. And talk about job security - I began exercising as a teen to Charlene Prickett and that melded her in my brain forever.
BTW when I'm thinking children I'm thinking tween age to early adolescent - marketed equally to boys and girls.
What a great idea!

I totally agree with you Trish. At a young age I also started working out with Charlene Prickett. I would purposely get up early in the morning before school to do It Figures. So exercise became habit at an early age. My daughter who is age 6 tries to do Cathe workouts now. She is able to do about half an hour. And my son who is almost 3 likes to do ab workouts with me. I would love to purchase a video for them that is at their level.

While I totally agree with the notion of getting children involved in fitness, I don't believe that the first line of defense for this should be video fitness for children. Just last night I was reading an excerpt in newsweek talking about children's obesity and how it is being now considered "epidemic". While getting children moving should be a goal, I feel that better examples should be set first such as playing outside: running around with friends, digging in the dirt, playing sports, and eating healthfully, NOT spending yet another 30 minutes to 1 hour in front of the television. While this is probably fine for older teenagers, I feel that young children, ESPECIALLY those under age 13, should be encouraged to participate in these other activities. Not only are these involvements good for their bodies but they are also excellent and necessary for development of theirs minds and their social skills. I'd much rather see a youngster participate in a baseball game and work their bodies and learn team spirit, or play outside and use their imaginations with friends that do crunches in front of a television. Great to workout with mommy but lets keep the videos to time pressed adults (even though we too should learn how to have a little imaginative fun once in awhile ;) )

just wanted to reiterate though how much i agree with you all about childrens fitness, way to go for caring about youth!

Catie, I guess it depends where you live. Right now it's way too cold here to do anything outside - dangerously cold. The most outside exercise anyone is getting is shovelling snow and running to the car. It's during these long winters that the kids get cagey and spend way too much in front of the screen. I do agree that kids should do more outside but at times it's impossible (rain, cold, dangerous area etc.) and daily good exercise habits can set a pattern for life. There is also a segment of the population (I was one) that is not good at sports. Working out at home is non-threatening and a real confidence booster. I think too many kids are getting the message that because they are not a 'jock' that exercise is not for them. Just my opinion.

Catie,

While I totally agree with you that it is best for children to be active more in outdoor/playing ways, their schedules do not always allow it. We tried soccer for my son, but it was so hectic and hard on our son and entire family to get to all the practices and games. Plus, he was made goalie--not much exercise there. Between his school work/reading, piano lessons/practicing and cub scouts, I feel he is "scheduled" enough. I'm fortunate that my kids watch very little TV or computer games, so I'm not worried about too much "screen" time. I just want something my kids can do no matter what the weather and where they can get good, well-rounded activity with sound, age-appropriate fitness instruction.
