80s fashions are back!

I go to an academy level stylist named Cheryl, and she charges $65. It is the best $65 I have ever spent. I live about an hour away, plus NYC parking lol, and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Who cuts your hair Nancy?

I went shopping yesterday and barely bought anything.
I hate gauchos and ruffly hard to iron skirts. The baby doll shirts are more like maternity blouses and the shorts are either super short or super long. The leggings are back.
Nope , no way nada....
I guess i will be wearing my old clothes. I found a few nice tops and one satiny skirt, but i guess i will have a limited wardrobe this year...

Don't forget that BUBBLE skirts are back in style again...God they were bad enough the first time around...LOL!!

I hate stirrup pants!!! I refuse to wear them!!!

:) :7 :9

Hi Gina! The name of my stylist is Lina. I didn't realize it at first, but then found out that she is Nick's wife. They are both very quiet about it, so you didn't hear it from me. Lina has really curly hair like mine, and loves to cut curly hair. She's a bit pricey, but I only need to go 4 times per year! With my old stylist, I had to go back every 5 weeks. So in the end, I think it costs about the same, and I look about a 100 times better. I sure am one satisfied customer. :D

I don't follow the latest fashion's either. I wear what I like...not what's in the latest fashion magazines. I didn't do ANY of the totally horrible 80's fashion's...nor the just as bad 70's either.

But...what is a bubble skirt?

*GASP* Egads!! Not the shoulder pads!!!!!

ETA that I doubt Stacy and Clinton are on board with this--lol!

>Among the really awful styles that are apparently now "back":
>really big sweaters over leggings (making your body look like
>an ice cream cone). Really skinny legged jeans and a big
>sweater on top (more of the ice cream cone).

I actually like that look.

Yep, I saw the same show. I was aghast! Shoulder pads, bubble skirts, skinny jeans, and that giant sweater--OMG that stupid thing was priced at something like $500! The lady doing the story said something like yeah, it's expensive, so just borrow your boyfriend or husband's. Yeah right.

Worst of all--dolman sleeves! EEEEEWWWWWWWW! As if I'm gonna take flight at any minute--HEAR ME FASHIONISTAS, I AM NOT A BAT! x(

I had heard some time ago that the fashion industry was doing a complete 180 b/c of Janet Jackson's Superbowl incident. I don't blame Janet (no matter how stupid that stunt was), but it is definitely a backlash to all the low rise pants, belly baring shirts, etc.

Which I find kind of sad. Let's face it, these clothes are more flattering on overweight folks but not on petite women--they make me look like some kind of orphan wearing clothes that don't fit. And I think low rise pants & belly baring tops can be worn tastefully as long as they're not too extreme. We all work hard on our bodies & I think it sucks we can't show it off if we want to be fashionable.

Why can't there just be a middle ground?

PS--another Clinton & Stacey fan here. They have my dream job. ;)

Okay ladies - let's put things into perspective - most of us have the look of shoulder pads without having to wear them thanks to Cathe, and if I remember correctly, they were usually removeable (or a pair of scissors made them removable). So, we'll be in style without ever having to feel like we're dressed with pillows on our shoulders.

I was just thinking that I don't NEED shoulder pads!

I still have my maroon colored leg warmers I used in 1985 with the funky pink tights and leotard for Jazzercise! LOL - :7

Now THAT'S scary!

Remember those "Genie pants"? Like the ones MC Hammer wears in the Nationwide commercial he's in? LMAO! I use to own tons of those ugly things! I have to say, they made my waist look really tiny.

LOL! The secret is safe with me. I only go every 3 or 4 months as well. And even then, I don't really "need" a cut, I'm just itching for one!

What about the flash dance sweatshirt? The other day, my 9 years old DD saw a top that comes two layers looks just like flash dance sweatshirts. She had to have it and I could not say no. After all, I used to have several for myself. :7 :7

I really did enjoy the leggings and long baggy sweaters while I was PREGNANT.:+ LOL!

I'll just wait this trend out. Geez, I just recently got into the low rise jeans.

Oh! Remember the little clip thing that we'd hook on the side of our big shirts to make them tight? It was so much better than the big knot! LOL!

LOL - Kathyrn! I only have the leg warmers! My teenage daughter wants me to give them to her! The only reason I have the leg warmers still is because they were put in a box with some other "relics"....:)

40Something--Here's a bubble skirt for you. :)

I saw a woman on the subway today wearing a bubble skirt, cowboy boots, beaded/sparkle top and a fluorescent green vinyl pocketbook. Yikes! My first thought was that she would make a great What Not to Wear candidate.

I still have my legwarmers, too, but they're black and wool and go up to my thighs. I wear them sometimes for ballet, still.
