6 month STS alumni, Saturday checkin

I'll get us started today:D:D My friend and I did a nice 3 mile run this morning, I wanted to keep it short and easy to see how my PF reacts. So far, so good, I feel it just very slightly. CLX has 2 days off a week so nice to add a little extra cardio.

Cendrine I have all Cathe's workouts also. But now at this point, we have to wait for new ones every couple of years. You still get the excitement of an occasional new workout:D I'm glad your enjoying CTX, there is some nice variety in those workouts. Insanity, has no equipment, it's mainly cardio but has some resistance using your body like push ups. I haven't previewed all the dvds yet.

Jo I'm with you on Chalene, she's okay, and I'll do one round but I really haven't "clicked" with her. Comparing STS and CLX results, hmm. STS I didn't really lose any weight, if anything I felt heavier, bulkier. I definitely got much stronger. So far I haven't seen much change with CLX and I am a bit worried that I'm losing some of my strength from STS. Most people seem to report the biggest changes in the last month of CLX which is the lean phase so hopefully I'll see some changes there. Have you decided on a rotation yet?

Hi Guys,

I finished out this week with leaner legs. It was pretty funny because I planned it to be last because I was looking for something 'easier' for saturday morning. Well, I was breaking a good sweat without ever doing formal cardio! LOL! And I was using lighter weights than I usually use for legs (I just felt high reps coming my way and I thought, I think I'll go a little lighter...) And I was right...:p

Jo, other than familiarizing myself with all my new workouts I don't have a plan like Kim does, right now either.... I think I need to make a rotation using the new dvds I got so that it feels more structured...
By the way, I think you asked who was doing 3 or 6 month when sts cardio comes out. I might be tempted to try the 3 month this time around. i also might be tempted to do meso 1, meso 2 and meso 1 again, because meso 3 just did not do much for my alignment and all... I could go lighter, but then the rests just seem too long and the whole format just doesn't seem to make sense for meso 3 since you are supposed to go as heavy as you can. So I think I will do meso1,2,1 or something like that. What do you think?

Kim I'm glad you were able to run without any problems, I hope it stays that way! Isn't it funny how much of a difference the trainer's personalilty makes? There are so many good trainers out there, but I have not clicked like I have with cathe with any of them. I enjoy some occasionally but for me there is a connection with Cathe that I haven't found in any others. Some I even just look at a preview for a minute and I know, nope, that's not going to keep me motivated....I didn't realize that I could be so picky, but at the same time I found what works for me, because it keeps me consistent.
Oh, and I meant to comment, Kim, meso 3 has felt like it bulked me up too, whereas meso 1 and 2 kept me lean. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with my eating at the time, because during meso 1 and 2 I ate so clean and then meso 3 I kind of lost the discipline for the month... That is another reason why I'm leaning toward not doing meso 3 again, I guess I care more about looking lean than I do about being even stronger... (vain? maybe...)

Hi Girls! I am a sweaty mess!

Cendrine, with you getting your bundle (even though I don't know what you got) I was inspired to pull out Step Works! (Did you get that?) Oh my goodness it is one of my old Cathe favs for Step! I always do my step at the same height as Cathe (unless I'm pooped!) so doing that whole thing (except lowers on the 3rd combo) on 8" wore me OUT! But feeling good! I love Cathe's old step!

Kim, three miles sounds good for a Saturday morning! :D Hope your PF stays AWAY! I was looking through the old rotations last night and found some old threads where you and I had both posted! Who'd know we'd eventually be checking in together!

Cendrine, isn't Leaner Legs GREAT! Cathe sure has done some wonderful legs workouts! Let us know if the ole DOMS settle in later! :p I think doing Meso 1,2,1 is perfectly fine. I'm considering doing the 3 month and then the holidays will come and maybe we could all (or me anyway) start another rotation of STS January 1 with STS Cardio. I also considered doing M1, 2 and then maybe 4 weeks of Slow & Heavy (I always loved that series).

It's going to be 90 here today...we're looking to set records again! El Nino El Nino El Nino! Off to the shower and probably a little house cleaning. Since I've been gone so much the last few weeks the dust has settled in!

Jo, I did get Step Works! I will have to do that one soon! LOL!

I like your idea of doing STS rotatin with sts cardio beginning in the new year! Good idea, and I have the slow and heavy, haven't done it yet, but would consider doing that in place of meso 3 if you were doing it and we could do the same rotation. Sounds fun!

Cendrine, Cathe's older step workouts are more athletic and less dancey than her more current ones. That DVD also has Power Max and Step Fit. When Power Max first came out in 1996 (remember I did not have a big selection then) I did it two to three times a week for months! LOL! Prior to that my favorite was Step Jam which I also did ALL THE TIME! During that time, Cathe was the only one with advanced workouts which is why I did them so much. I think Step Works came out in 1998 and then it replaced the others as my favorite for a while! Anyway, whenever I do any of those old ones...it's like I just did them yesterday and get right back into the routine.

Kim, I am so excited about TBL starting Tuesday! Have you seen the trailer for it? Daniel (I think that was his name) will be back on. He was one of the orange team and the biggest contestant ever! Anyway, I'm ready for a new season! The accomplishments of those contestants always keep me motivated and are very inspiring!

Well, I got the laundry going and now I'm off to tackle the bathrooms!

Okay, the plantar fascitis is definitely bothering me. I think I should just leave the running till next spring but I enjoy the time with my friends:(

DH, kids and I went for gelato (sp?) after supper and then stopped at Indigo to browse. I ended up buying the book "The End of Overeating". Did you notice the new checkin to do with that book? Sounded interesting, I'll let you know what I think.

Cendrine I really like Leaner Legs, the music is neat. I'm thinking of only a 3 month STS rotation, I think I'll do Meso 3 but only the pylo legs. I'll wait till Cathe puts on the rotation with weights/cardio before I decided. I might want to run the half marathon next spring so the 3 month rotation would work better. Jan-March STS April-June marathon training.:D

Jo Slow and Heavy instead of Meso 3, is an interesting idea. I'll have to think about that. January 1st would be a great time to start the STS rotation together. Although if it comes sooner we could reconsider but I have my doubts it'll will be any earlier. I'm very excited about TBL too! I've only seen one commercial for it but haven't been watching much tv during the summer.

Off to read my new book!

Oh Kim! Take care of that foot! I know how you are wanting to run and knowing you shouldn't! That's how it was when I first started having knee problems...I kept running for a while and should not have! However my particular problem wouldn't have made any difference - meaning it wouldn't have gotten any worse...I was just causing myself misery and pain by denying I shouldn't be runnng! But alas! I discovered spinning!!!

I have not seen that new checkin or the posts about the book. However I'm going to go check it out on Amazon. It might be good for a friend of mine.

Okay...we're going to watch Sahara. Talk to you girls tomorrow!
