Good Morning and Happy Weekend to all!

Today is my rest day, so that means chores around the housex( . It is rainy, windy and cool here today. Not good for working outside which is what I wanted to do.

I got my new DVD's yesterday, they were delivered to DH's office in the afternoon. I pre-viewed 3 last night. The weight work is very interesting, and I know I will be doing these this coming week. I am not too sure about the cardio. I really like the fact that she put in a pre-mix that lets you do the weight work first. I know I will be using them this way. Then I can do the cardio if I feel like it and as much as I want. The pre-mixes alone on these were worth the price of the pre-order. I see they are going for $80 at Collage.

Today's Menu:
Protein drink with ice & water
B: Cherrios with strawberries and skim milk
S: cottage cheese
L: not sure
S: apple & stringster,
D: Italian: DH and I are going out for Sweetest day!
S: WW choc ice cream bar, or Skinny Cow

Josie: It's great that you can continue your training outside at this time of year! Keep it up girl we want to see you do well in that marathon!:7

Garance:
I will probably try the moves of the LIS cardio, with no risers and see how it goes. I wish she had a little more instruction time. Sounds like your team is going strong!}( ..

Linny:
No, have not tried the ice cream cones yet, DH bought the sandwiches at local discount club, they come in a pack of 20!:9 so I will be eating these for a while!. I know my knee is sensitive to kickbox and step, so I have to watch what I am doing with the new workouts being all step, kickbox and boot camp ( which I hate!)x(

Have a great fall day!
Deb;-)

Hi ladies! I don't get into the check-in part of the boards very often, but just wanted to say hi. My goal is to someday exercise often enough to be part of a check-in. I'm overwhelmed just hearing about the workouts most Catheites do. I tend to be a weekend warrior, but these days life keeps getting in the way.

I should be able to workout tonight and tomorrow, though. I'm SOOOOO looking forward to it!! I hope nothing interferes.

Happy weekend to all!

Hi Deb and welcome Nancy--

This is my off day as well, so I just cleaned house and will spend the afternoon going over my Oxford talk, which I haven't looked at since classes started. I hope I am not unpleasantly surprised.

Nancy, my impression of this group is that we are a bit more relaxed and forgiving to our over-50 bodies than the younger Cathe-ites. I always cringe when I see a thread that's thrilled over IMax 3, which I did a couple times and then shelved out of fear for my knees. I do a lot of modifications on Cathe's high impact moves and I don't feel the least bit guilty using her timesaver premixes.

Linny, the Red Sox have won 2 games, the Indians have won 3. Tonight is a must win game or they are eliminated. Schilling is pitching. Beckett is responsible for both of their wins--with the help of the bullpen, of course. In my Entertainment Weekly (the photograph issue last week), they had a section devoted to celebrities and their favorite T-shirts. Matt Damon (a big Red Sox fan, along with Ben Affleck) was just wearing a plain black T-shirt, but wished he was wearing his favorite, which says, "Even Jesus hates the Yankees." Cracked me up. Maybe another should read, "Even Torre hates the Yankees."

Have a great weekend everyone!! (Go Red Sox!!)

Happy Sunday, All,

Welcome, Nancy. Please post as often as you wish. I've been only walking and going to physical therapy for over a month due to an injury, so you definitely don't have to do Cathe for 2 hours a day to fit in here!

Yesterday I worked (they have me keeping to my weekend schedule even though I'm still on half-days), then we drove to see my mother-in-law (an hour drive usually, but freeway construction made it almost 2 hours, yuck). She's in a nursing home with late-stage Alzheimer's. Such a horrible, cruel disease.

We drove home the long way (still 2 hours but at least we were moving). It was pretty late by then, so I didn't even walk. Today, I'll work 4 hours, go to the grocery store, then make sure I walk. Tomorrow is (hopefully) my last week of physical therapy.

It really feels like fall in Houston - we're supposed to have lows in the 50s and highs in the 70s all week - perfect weather!

Have a wonderful day,
Jen

Good Morning! Welcome Nancy!

A cool but nice day here in Bufalo! Finally the rain and wind stopped.

Today I did the first one of the 4DS series High Intensity Step/chest & BAck I am so glad Cathe thought to put a pre-mix that lets you do the weights first. If I had started with the step part, I probably would have tossed the whole thing in the trashx( . The step is very frustrating to me when there is no, and I mean NONE, instruction or working into it. I did the weight part and about 15 minutes of the step and quit. I am not so much in love with step that I will rewind a bunch of times to learn it.. I wish if she is going to continue like this ( and I know the really die hard steppers like it so I understand why she does this) that she would include a chapter that people like me could go to where she breaks down the combinations. That would be great:) Anyway enough complaining! the weight work was nice and different.

Todays Menu:
Post Workout: Protein drink with ice/water
B: Cherrios with strawberries and skim milk
S: stringster/apple
L: not sure
S: cottage cheese
D: pasta fagioli soup!:9 ( DH is making it in the crock pot)
S: WW choc ice cream bar, or Skinny Cow

Nancy:
As Garance said, we are the "queens of modification" here and we use the pre-mixes! I can't remember the last time I did a Cathe workout in its entirety ( maybe never! LOL)

Garance:
Hope the Red Sox keep you smiling!

Jen:
So sad to hear about your MIL.. I have an aunt that is in a memory care facility, and everytime I go to visit, although I feel good about seeing her, I leave very depressed.

Today I will be judging an Obedience match at our dog club.. off and running!

Be back later .. for sure tomorrow am

Deb

Hi Deb and later posters--

I, too, did the HIS plus back and chest this morning. I think when I get all of the moves on the step routine I will really like it, because the parts I did get were fun--a lot more fun than her step routines on LIC or BM2 from the last series. Thought the weight work was excellent, too, although there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY I am going to do over 60 pounds on a barbell. Phew!

The Red Sox are still in it, but I worry about Daisuke (Dice-kay) who is pitching tonight. He has been disappointing at times. Last night was wonderful after J.D. Drew hit a grand slam. Clearly had a settling effect on Schilling.

Beautiful day here--think I will try to put some of my gardens to bed later this afternoon.

One of my colleagues--a brilliant and witty man--fell down with Alzheimer's and it was just heartbreaking to see. He was only in his late 50s, and he died 5 years after the diagnosis. What was really terrible is that he became so angry at people. It made it very hard for his friends to visit him.

Go Red Sox!!! One more game, and then on to the World Series.

Hi Ladies: Well the wedding was a success and thankfully over. There were 10 people trying to get ready for the wedding here saturday. I am so glad that I have 3 bathrooms. It was a nice wedding but I'm glad its over. We went out for breakfast buffet this morning with my DH cousins. Didn't make the ususal pig of myself there.Buffets aare a weakness.
I'm with you Garance "GOOOOO! Red Sox!
Deb: I'll start with the food diary again and hopefully the weight will start coming off.
